Technical Manager Marble & Natural Stone

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Technical Manager to oversee the technical operations of a marble and natural stone business. The role involves managing the technical office, estimation and tendering activities, shop drawings, material planning, fabrication coordination and installation processes.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in the marble, granite or natural stone industry, with the ability to manage technical teams and coordinate effectively between clients, designers, suppliers, factory operations and project sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise the technical office, including drafting, estimation and engineering activities.


• Oversee the complete project workflow, from initial estimation and material selection through shop drawings, fabrication and final installation.


• Lead the preparation and review of shop drawings, fabrication drawings, cutting lists, technical specifications and as-built drawings.


• Coordinate with factory and production teams to ensure drawings and material requirements are aligned with fabrication capabilities.


• Manage estimation and tendering activities, including BOQs, RFQs, cost breakdowns, quotations and variation orders.


• Review project specifications, drawings and client requirements to identify technical discrepancies and propose suitable solutions.


• Coordinate material selection, slab requirements, procurement and inventory planning.


• Monitor project schedules, technical submissions, fabrication progress and installation timelines.


• Ensure quality and accuracy of drawings, material specifications and technical documentation.


• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers and internal departments.


• Support value engineering, cost optimisation and effective material utilisation.


• Manage technical documentation, project records, reports and administrative workflows.


• Lead and develop the technical team, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.


• Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience, preferably within the marble, granite or natural stone industry.


• Previous experience in a Technical Manager, Technical Office Manager, Engineering Manager or similar leadership position.


• Strong knowledge of marble and granite fabrication, processing and installation.


• Experience with shop drawings, fabrication drawings, cutting lists and BOQ preparation.


• Good understanding of CNC machinery, stone cutting processes and slab optimisation.


• Proven experience in estimation, tendering, quotations, material costing and variation orders.


• Experience coordinating with factory production teams, suppliers and project site teams.


• Strong leadership, project coordination and problem-solving skills.


• Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant technical design software.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with marble, granite, quartz and other natural or engineered stone materials.


• Exposure to factory operations, production planning and quality control.


• Experience handling large-scale commercial, hospitality or luxury residential stone projects.


• Previous experience in the GCC market.
