Head of Data Science

Job Overview: As the Director of Data Science, you will be responsible for building and leading a data science organization focused on B2C and B2B teams, developing customer and business-impacting models, and propelling Property Finder into the age of AI. You will support the VP of Data & AI in shaping and executing the data science strategy, working closely with cross-functional teams to deploy data products that drive user and customer value.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and lead a team of Data Scientists to deliver advanced offline and real-time machine learning solutions and data pipelines.
• Develop and implement data science and AI strategies in alignment with business objectives.
• Partner with Product Leadership and Core Engineering teams to manage project schedules, dependencies, and critical paths.
• Collaborate effectively with stakeholders across Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, and other functions to ensure alignment and successful project delivery.
• Drive initiatives that promote innovation and technical excellence within the data science team.
• Hire, retain, and develop high-performing data scientists and engineers.
• Coach and motivate the team to achieve high productivity and teamwork, ensuring individual potential is maximized.
• Interface with internal teams to prioritize features and functionality based on business priorities and available resources.
• Skills & Experience:
• Minimum 10 years of experience in data science and/or machine learning.
• At least 5 years of hands-on people management experience, leading high-performing teams of engineers, scientists, and/or engineering managers.
• Strong experience in data management, including building and scaling data lake management systems and data pipelines.
• Expertise in data curation and ethical sourcing of data, with a thorough understanding of data privacy regulations.
• Proven track record in product management, delivering successful products and features in the AI/ML space.
• Experience in building AI architectures and deploying scalable AI models.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic mindset and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
• Proficiency with agile development methodologies and best practices for software development.
• Ability to communicate highly technical concepts to non-technical audiences effectively.
• Experience in the marketplace industry or a strong interest in the marketplace space.
