Job Description:

Mechanical Engineering Intern

Qatar

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team in Doha, Qatar! In this role, you will support mechanical design and coordination activities on infrastructure, transportation, and building projects, gaining exposure to real-world engineering workflows, tools, and standards in a professional consulting environment. You will work alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams, contributing to active engineering deliverables and design development activities. Interns are encouraged not only to learn, but also to contribute to project outputs, engage with engineering teams, and develop their professional skills through mentorship, professional exposure on live projects, and networking opportunities.

What You’ll Be Doing

Design & Technical Support

• Assisting in the preparation and updating of HVAC and mechanical building services designs, including ductwork, piping systems, and equipment layouts.
• Supporting development of mechanical drawings, schematics, and schedules using CAD tools.
• Assisting in basic engineering calculations (under supervision), such as cooling load inputs, airflow estimations, and equipment selection support.
• Supporting preparation of engineering deliverables, including drawings, reports, and technical documentation.

MEP Systems Coordination

• Assisting in coordinating mechanical systems with electrical and civil disciplines to ensure proper integration and space allocation.
• Supporting identification of design clashes and interface issues during multidisciplinary coordination.
• Participating in coordination discussions and tracking assigned actions and updates.

Review & Documentation

• Assisting in reviewing contractor submissions, including shop drawings and method statements.
• Supporting updating of drawings and documents based on engineering redlines and coordination comments.
• Assisting in maintaining as-built records and technical documentation.

Data Management & Reporting

• Collecting and organizing technical project data, including equipment datasheets, inspection records, and site reports.
• Assisting in preparing presentations, reports, and meeting materials, and following up on assigned actions.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring

• Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering at an accredited university in Qatar.
• Strong academic record with coursework relevant to:
  • HVAC systems
  • Thermodynamics
  • Fluid mechanics
• Basic proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD or similar).
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and MEP drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow engineering standards and procedures.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Eagerness to learn and contribute in a professional engineering setting.

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring

• Exposure (through coursework or projects) to:
  • Revit (MEP) or other BIM tools
  • Basic HVAC system design principles
• Familiarity with MEP coordination workflows and building services systems.
• Exposure to construction or site environments.
• Interest in infrastructure and building projects involving:
  • HVAC systems
  • Building services (MEP)
  • District cooling or large-scale facilities
• Ability to manage time effectively and work toward project deadlines.
