Role: Capital Markets - Weekend Release and Environment Manager A position has opened for an experienced and dynamic Release and Environment Manager to join the Capital Markets Equities team. The candidate will assist the group meet their release schedule targets whilst ensuring release robustness and quality.The role primarily involves managing release delivery for the group's Capital Markets Equities systems that operate on on-premise and cloud platforms.Due to the nature of the role, the candidate will be required to work some Saturday shifts, on a demand basis. On occasion, also on a later Friday shift. Flexibility will be provided for a non-working day to be agreed in lieu Monday to Friday.The ideal candidate will have a working background (or thorough knowledge of) application support and demonstrated release management experience. Release Manager Responsibilities: The overall responsibility of the Release Manager is to identify all the tasks that need to be co-ordinated, managed, scheduled and planned across a release. The Release Manager will sit within the Application Services team liaising with Product Owners, Project Managers, QA, Sec-Ops, infrastructure teams and Release Engineers. The Release Manager will orchestrate all Capital Markets deployments and upgrades.The primary responsibilities will include:

  • Liaising with product owners to ensure release requirements are well defined and scoped
  • Liaising with technology teams to review technical impact and resourcing requirements for upgrades
  • Scheduling release activities
  • Hosting planning meetings to organise deployment activities
  • Owning the deployment runbooks and supporting the global technology teams to build and refine the deployment runbooks
  • Participating in change forums
  • Managing the deployment runbooks during execution
  • Hosting Go/No-Go or test review calls during weekend execution
  • Hosting washup review meetings post event
The candidate will be required to:
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of application services supported systems and interfaces
  • Manage application deployment issues working closely with application owners
  • Be concise and exhibit exceptional communication skills at all levels
  • Gain an in-depth knowledge for all LSEG business processes (especially change management)
  • Seek inefficiencies and propose release process enhancements
  • Liaise with Product Owners, Project Managers and Sec-Ops to define and shape the release and patching schedules, while being mindful of dependencies
Expectation is that the candidate will also:
  • Participate in release sprint meetings
  • Liaise with release packaging teams to ensure release packs are delivered meeting the operational release requirements
  • Review and sign off release package content
  • Support Infrastructure lead projects where application testing is necessary
  • Manage and track environment allocation
  • Manage new environment creation requests
  • Manage environment Configuration Management
Candidate Background and Skillset:
  • Demonstrated experience within the Release Management function
  • Experience with Release Management tools (JIRA, Service Now, Excel, Cutover or similar)
  • Some experience or knowledge of orchestration tools (Jenkins, Puppet, Ansible)
  • Experience with deployments to both physical and cloud based environments (preferably AWS)
  • Experience with Linux operating systems
  • Project management experience including planning, resourcing, liaising with stakeholders and communication with sponsors
  • Application knowledge and experience preferably gained within a mission critical support environment in the financial services or exchange industry
  • Basic database and SQL knowledge
  • Exposure to basic network principles
  • Some experience of Control-M, HP Operations Manager, Nexus would be preferred
  • Educated and holding a degree level qualification (preferably in an IT discipline)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Proven ability to share information and work individually or as part of a team to solve challenges
  • Appreciation of the business processes and their importance
  • Some knowledge of Capital Markets of working in financial industry would be preferred
  • Proven innovator
  • Show initiative, be flexible, detail-oriented and exceptionally organised
  • Customer focused
  • ITIL qualification preferred but not essential
