Backup Engineer

Backup Engineer (Level 2)

We are looking for a Backup Engineer (Level 2) to join our partner's team.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in Backup & Recovery Administration within enterprise IT environments.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise backup solutions such as:
  • Cohesity
  • Veritas NetBackup
  • IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM)
  • Dell EMC Data Domain
  • Quantum DXi
• Experience operating, monitoring, tuning and maintaining backup infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of backup, restore and disaster recovery processes.
• Experience performing:
  • File-level restores
  • Image-level restores
  • Application-aware restores
• Experience monitoring backup jobs, managing alerts and performing regular backup health checks.
• Solid experience in Level 2 incident management, including:
  • Incident triage
  • Root cause analysis
  • Troubleshooting and resolution
• Knowledge of ITIL Incident & Problem Management processes.
• Experience escalating complex issues to Level 3 support or external vendors when required.
• Experience identifying recurring issues and contributing to Problem Management and Known Error Database (KEDB) maintenance.
• Experience implementing backup-related infrastructure changes, including:
  • Patching
  • Configuration updates
  • Capacity extensions
• Knowledge of storage capacity planning, forecasting and utilization monitoring.
• Experience managing storage targets including Data Domain, Quantum DXi tape libraries and cloud backup targets.
• Scripting and automation experience using one or more of:
  • PowerShell
  • Bash
  • Python
  • Ansible
• Experience developing automation scripts for backup jobs, health checks, reporting and API-driven orchestration.
• Experience maintaining operational documentation, including:
  • Runbooks
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Configuration baselines
• Experience producing service quality, operational and SLA compliance reports.
• Familiarity with SLA-driven production environments and enterprise support operations.
• Ability to work in an ITIL-aligned environment supporting multiple internal customers.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to operational stability.
• Good communication skills with the ability to act as a technical liaison between infrastructure teams and business stakeholders.
• Fluent English (written and spoken).
