Job Description - Data Analyst Consultant

Role Overview

Data Edge is looking for a Data Analyst Consultant to support the discovery and definition of a Canonical Data Model across multiple regions, including the UK, EU, and US.

The role will focus on analysing business data structures, documenting source-to-canonical mappings, identifying data gaps and inconsistencies, and supporting governance documentation. The Data Analyst Consultant will work closely with Data Modelers, API Engineers, business stakeholders, and regional teams to ensure that data requirements are clearly understood and translated into reusable canonical structures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse data structures across business units, regions, systems, and functional areas.
  • Support Canonical Data Model discovery by gathering and documenting business and data requirements.
  • Document source-to-canonical mappings, including entities, attributes, definitions, rules, and dependencies.
  • Analyse existing data definitions, business rules, transformation logic, and integration dependencies.
  • Identify data gaps, inconsistencies, duplication, quality issues, and areas requiring business clarification.
  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions with business stakeholders, data owners, regional teams, and technical teams.
  • Produce clear documentation to support data model governance, decision-making, and implementation.
  • Collaborate closely with Data Modelers to ensure discovery outputs are translated into structured conceptual and logical models.
  • Work with API Engineers to ensure mapped data structures can support API specifications, payloads, and integration requirements.
  • Support alignment between regional data variations and the target canonical data model.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong experience in business analysis and data analysis within enterprise environments.
  • Good understanding of data mapping, source-to-target analysis, and requirements gathering.
  • Experience working with enterprise data models, canonical data models, or integration-focused data structures.
  • Ability to analyse data definitions, business rules, dependencies, and transformation requirements.
  • Understanding of data governance, data quality, metadata, and documentation standards.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to facilitate workshops and manage input from multiple business teams.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into clear data documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with complex, cross-regional data landscapes.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience in the insurance domain.
  • Experience supporting Canonical Data Model initiatives.
  • Experience with data transformation, data migration, integration, or platform modernisation projects.
  • Familiarity with API-led integration or enterprise integration patterns.
  • Experience working across multiple regions, business units, or regulatory environments.

Profile

The ideal candidate is a structured and detail-oriented Data Analyst Consultant with strong business analysis, data mapping, and stakeholder engagement skills. They should be comfortable working across business and technical teams, helping to clarify data definitions, document mappings, and support the creation of a reusable Canonical Data Model.

This role is best suited for someone who can bridge business understanding and data modelling needs, while bringing clarity and consistency to complex enterprise data environments.
