Job Description
At MassMutual, our vision is to help people secure their future and protect the ones they love. As a Digital Analyst / Developer, you’ll join a team that assures we gather useful analytics on our company’s web and mobile properties using clickstream data – which, in turn, supports MassMutual’s sales, marketing, and operations efforts.
This role will work within the Marketing Data team, which is responsible for the end-to-end delivery and management of trusted, relevant, and governed data assets that drive and measure marketing activity. Among other things, our team provisions analytics on internally- and externally-facing web applications to drive data-driven decisions impacting those applications.
Your day-to-day work will involve producing requirements on events that must be tracked for subsequent analytics and reports, developing code and configuration changes to generate and route these events into analytics solutions, and building capabilities to expand our offerings and refine our delivery.
Primary Responsibilities:
The person we hire for this role will support work in the following areas:
- Requirements: Independently gather prioritized requirements, and decompose into tasks / work items
- Web tracking: Generate user behavioral data using both web applications and code repositories, and verify that data is being collected as expected
- Coordination: Liaise with other technical resources during development, and help align technical execution with our peer teams
- Capability-building: Develop scalable solutions to enhance what we measure, how we measure it, and how we support other teams
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business or an analytical field such as Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science
- Tag management systems: 2-5 years of experience working with tag management systems (Tealium iQ, Google Tag Manager / GTM, Adobe Experience Platform Launch, Ensighten Manage, Piwik PRO Tag Manager, etc.)
- JavaScript: 3-6 years of experience developing and debugging in JavaScript, TypeScript, GTM’s sandboxed JavaScript, or equivalent
- Web and digital analytics solutions: At least 1 year of experience with web and digital analytics solutions, such as Snowplow, Google Analytics, Amplitude, Mixpanel, Segment, Heap, etc.
- HTML concepts: Proficient understanding of HTML and the document object model (DOM)
- Data analysis and reporting: Experience in roles requiring ad-hoc reporting, dashboard creation, or data analysis using a preexisting data model
- Communication: Strong interpersonal communication, coordination, and planning skills with cross functional teams
Nice to have:
- Agile methodology: Familiar with Agile delivery process and related ceremonies
- Atlassian software: Experience with Atlassian solutions for collaboration and software delivery (JIRA, Confluence)
- Git / version control systems: Experience working with Git or other version control systems, including working in teams with code review / pull request review processes
- Digital Analytics domain expertise: Experience in web analytics or digital analytics, and understanding of digital metrics used to assess content or website performance
- SQL: Experience using SQL for advanced database queries
- Requirements-gathering: Ability to isolate and elicit expected vs. actual experience and recommend the best action plan / solution, with little to no guidance
