Field Application Engineer / After-Sales Engineer (BESS)

Overview

Gigantes Group has been retained by a global clean energy and energy storage solutions provider to recruit a hands-on Field Application Engineer / After-Sales Engineer specializing in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

This role serves as the critical technical link between cutting-edge technology and real-world grid performance. Operating across Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and Utility-Scale environments, you will take ownership of the full post-delivery lifecycle—leading hands-on installation, commissioning, complex diagnostics, and maintenance for advanced Power Conversion Systems (PCS) and Lithium Battery Systems. Beyond the field, you will serve as a technical mentor and escalation expert, running customer training programs, authoring operational SOPs, and providing tier-3 remote support.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  

  Field Commissioning & Diagnostics: Lead on-site installation, commissioning, startup testing, and troubleshooting for utility and C&I-scale PCS, lithium-ion battery racks, and complete BESS/RESS packages.

  System Testing & Optimization: Execute functional performance tests, capacity verifications, system diagnostics, and operational parameter tuning in accordance with grid interconnection standards.

  Technical Escalation & Remote Support: Act as the high-level technical escalation point for complex field issues, collaborating with help desk teams and providing remote diagnostics through call-center channels.

  
  


• 
  

  Customer Facing & Relationship Building: Act as the primary technical interface for clients and EPCs during on-site operations, clearly communicating system status, troubleshooting steps, and corrective action plans.

  
  


• 
  

  Training & SOP Development: Design, update, and deliver technical training programs for internal service teams, third-party partners, and customer operators, while developing standardized field maintenance and commissioning procedures.

  
  


• 
  

  Documentation & Reporting: Maintain meticulous field service logs, commissioning sign-off packages, diagnostic summaries, inspection checklists, and failure analysis reports.

  HSE & Site Safety: Strictly enforce all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) protocols, perform mandatory pre-work safety audits, and oversee safe tool and equipment handling procedures.

  
  

Requirements

• 
  

  Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.

  
  


• 
  

  Experience: Minimum of 1–2+ years of direct field service experience with BESS, PCS, or utility-scale energy storage systems.

  
  


• 
  

  Project Exposure: Demonstrated track record leading on-site commissioning, preventative maintenance, and root-cause troubleshooting for C&I or utility-scale installations.

    In-depth working knowledge of Power Conversion Systems (inverters/PCS), lithium battery chemistry, and grid compliance standards.

    Fluent ability to interpret electrical single-line diagrams (SLDs), three-line schematics, control logic, and wiring schedules.

    Working familiarity with SCADA architecture, Energy Management Systems (EMS), BMS communication protocols (Modbus, CANbus), and remote monitoring portals.

  Soft Skills: Clear verbal and written technical communication skills, with an aptitude for delivering structured training and explaining technical complexities to non-technical stakeholders.
