A Snapshot of Your Day As a member of our central Real Estate team overseeing all internal construction activities of Siemens Energy worldwide, you guide and support as Quantity Surveyor (QS) the Project Managers (PM) in defining realistic budgets for construction projects based on specific project requirements, the applied procurement strategy and contract type, regional building codes and actual market situations.
How You’ll Make an Impact You develop, implement, and maintain processes for effective cost management procedures and identification of significant cost risks and development of mitigation measures in close collaboration with the project teams You provide cost estimates in various stages of the project life cycle from preliminary to detailed level You evaluate the effectiveness of cost control measures by the project team and review cost forecasts and cost reports to safeguard budget and cash-out plan adherence during execution of the projects With your expertise in cost and time effective construction methods experience, you enable the PM to deliver the projects on time and within budget When cost optimizations are required, you support the PM in Value Engineering, price, and claim negotiations with the General Contractor You will work in close collaboration with the Project Manager to ensure the overall project success and deliver on Siemens Energy´s growth targets What You Bring Master’s degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil engineering, Architecture, or a similar discipline, and many years of proven international experience in industrial construction projects Special knowledge in typical cost benchmarks for industrial buildings (manufacturing, testing, R&D facilities, warehouses, offices) and cost influencing factors. Profound understanding of pros and cons of most applicable contract types (like pre-construction-project-partnering, Design-Bid-Build to DesignBuild and Open Book/cost plus fees, BtS-Lease) to consult our project teams on contract management topics Good Command of MS Office-applications like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Registration/Certification in RICS or PMI is beneficial; Experience of digital design methods like BIM and work in cost data bases is beneficial Very good communication and presentation skills in English, good communication skills in German are beneficial Structured, organized way of working – we look for self-starters at work.
