Job Description - SAP Basis Administrators (L1/L2 support)

As part of our continued growth, we are now building an SAP Basis Administrators (L1 & L2) team.


This role is focused on providing first level and second level support, ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of SAP systems.

GOAL



  • Ensuring stable, SLA-compliant SAP operations through qualified 1st and 2nd level support, active system monitoring, and structured collaboration and coordination with 3rd level units and external partners



Tasks & responsibilities



  • 1st & 2nd Level Support (Core Task)

  • Incident and request handling according to SLA (ITSM, SAP Rise Service Requests)

  • Detection of system downtimes and degradations

  • Execution and maintenance of SAP Basis Runbooks

  • Ticket coordination with internal teams and external providers, escalation to 3rd level



SAP Operations - L2



  • Analysis and resolution of technical issues - ABAP dumps, system logs, locks, performance issues, database issues

  • SAP Basis Customizing - SAP standard jobs, RFC connections, Printer & spool administration, etc.

  • Transport management according to defined transport strategy - implementation of SAP notes

  • Certificate management - monitoring, renewal, replacement, removal

  • Implementation of approved changes - start / stop the systems, parameter and configuration changes

  • Participation in maintenance windows (planning & execution)

  • Review of reports (e.g. EWA)



Additional exposure / support activities (not primary ownership):



  • Support
    SAP
    upgrades, migrations, and system copies

  • Assist with high-availability environments and business function activations

  • Contribute to root cause analysis (RCA) activities

  • Collaborate with senior/L3 teams on project-related tasks



Required Skills & Experience



  • Good understanding of SAP Basis administration and SAP operations support

  • Hands-on experience with SAP Basis standard transactions such as SM21, ST22, SM37, SM50/51, SM66, SM12, and SM58

  • Experience with incident, request, and transport management in ITIL-based environments

  • Knowledge of SAP system monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational support activities

  • Basic understanding of SAP HANA administration and architecture

  • Familiarity with SAP Cloud ALM and operational monitoring tools

  • Understanding of SAP security fundamentals, including certificates, TLS, and SSO basics

  • Basic knowledge of high-availability concepts, clustering, and load balancing

  • Experience with backup and restore procedures is considered an advantage

  • Structured and documentation-oriented way of working

  • Good English communication skills



Nice to have



  • Experience with SAP upgrades, migrations, and system copy activities

  • Knowledge of SAP performance tuning and optimization

  • Familiarity with SAP add-on installations

  • Experience with technical data archiving

  • Exposure to SAP RISE environments

  • 2–5 years of experience in SAP Basis or IT operations environments
