SAP Basis Project Lead

Location: 100% Remote

Contract Duration: 12 Months (Project-based)

Type: Freelance / SRL or PFA

Availability: Full-time, the Consultant joining the project must be open to working on weekends at least 12 times a year.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced SAP Basis Project Lead to manage and coordinate complex SAP Basis initiatives, including release upgrades, S/4HANA conversions, and system migrations. This role combines strong SAP Basis technical knowledge with project planning and orchestration responsibilities, ensuring successful delivery in high-pressure, enterprise environments.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience with SAP Basis in enterprise landscapes

• Proven experience with SAP release upgrades and/or S/4HANA conversions (hands-on or planning/coordination level)

• Experience with system migrations, either hands-on or in a planning and coordination role

• Experience working with hyperscalers (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP)

• Solid background in project planning, coordination, and orchestration

• Ability to communicate confidently in high-pressure and critical situations

• Willingness to perform weekend work (approximately 12 weekends per year)

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate SAP Basis-related projects, including upgrades, migrations, and S/4HANA conversions

• Plan and orchestrate technical activities across multiple teams and stakeholders

• Define project timelines, dependencies, and milestones

• Coordinate with infrastructure, application, and business teams

• Support cutover planning and execution, including weekend activities

• Monitor risks, issues, and dependencies and ensure timely resolution

• Ensure system stability, performance, and compliance during and after changes

• Act as the main point of contact for SAP Basis topics within the project

Language Requirements

• English – fluent (mandatory)

• German – beneficial / nice to have
