Senior Azure Integration Developer

Role Summary

As a Senior Azure Integration Developer, you will lead the design and delivery of Azure Integration Services (AIS)-based solutions across multiple claims workstreams. You will shape how workflow and case tooling connect to core systems and third-party services. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will code, set engineering standards, run design reviews, and ensure that initial development shortcuts do not evolve into permanent operational outages.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Leadership

• End-to-End Ownership: Own the integration architecture across workstreams using AIS patterns, including APIM, Logic Apps, Functions, Service Bus, Event Grid, and Event Hubs.
• API Standardization: Define and enforce contract-first (OpenAPI) standards, versioning strategies, error models, and backwards compatibility discipline.
• Mentorship: Coach and raise the bar for the team through code reviews, design reviews, and providing practical guidance for mid-level developers.

Azure Integration Services (AIS) Mastery

• API Management (APIM): Provide technical leadership for productizing APIs, policy design, OAuth2/OIDC enforcement, and access segregation.
• Orchestration & Serverless: Lead the orchestration strategy using Logic Apps and design resilient serverless integrations with Azure Functions (primarily C#).
• Messaging & Eventing: Make and defend critical architectural decisions regarding the use of Service Bus for command workflows, Event Grid for distribution, and Event Hubs for high-throughput streaming.

Security & Operations

• Secure Architecture: Drive secure designs using Entra ID (Azure AD), Managed Identities, and least-privilege access models.
• Connectivity: Ensure secure connectivity patterns, including VNET integration, private endpoints, and firewalls for non-internet-exposed services.
• Observability: Own the standards for correlation IDs, distributed tracing, dashboards, and alerting using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Core Development: Deep experience building and leading the delivery of .NET integration services on Azure, specifically C#, ASP.NET Core, and Azure Functions.
• AIS Expertise: Strong hands-on expertise with APIM (governance and lifecycle), Logic Apps (maintainability), and messaging services (Service Bus, Event Grid, Event Hubs).
• Security: Proven experience with OAuth2/OIDC flows, token lifecycles, and managed identity patterns.
• Leadership: Ability to lead through ambiguity, force architectural decisions, and maintain delivery momentum without compromising operational stability.

Certifications & Preferences

• Required/Preferred: AZ-204 (Azure Developer Associate).
• Highly Desirable: AZ-305 (Azure Solutions Architect Expert) and AZ-400 (DevOps Engineer Expert).
• Domain Experience: Experience in regulated financial services or building reusable integration frameworks at program scale is a plus.

• Pattern Convergence: Teams converge on a consistent set of reusable AIS patterns rather than creating unique standards per squad.
• Risk Reduction: Integration risk decreases as contracts, dependencies, and failure modes become explicit and testable.
• Operational Excellence: When system failures occur, you can trace the root cause quickly and implement systemic fixes rather than temporary patches.
