Job Description - Senior Business Analyst

Role Responsibilities

The Senior Business Analyst will be responsible for delivering high‑quality business and technical analysis across RepoClear and other Securities business lines, supporting a wide range of business‑led change initiatives. A key part of the role is ensuring that all requirements and test assets are captured, structured, and maintained in executable Behaviour‑Driven Development (BDD) format, in line with the new SCT Target Operating Model.

The Senior BA will collaborate closely with IT Development, Solution Architecture, and the Operations Test Team to ensure that changes are fully assessed, correctly specified, and delivered effectively and on schedule.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced analyst within the financial services sector to contribute to a major transformation programme. The role includes access to training and skills development, and the Business Analyst team operates in a hybrid model, offering flexibility in working practices.

Key Accountabilities

  • Identify and analyse the business and system impacts of new Securities products and service enhancements across RepoClear, EquityClear and Listed Rates.
  • Elicit, analyse and document business needs to produce high‑quality requirements at Feature, Epic and User Story levels.
  • Convert existing requirements and test cases into structured, executable BDD (Gherkin) specifications, ensuring alignment with SCT standards.
  • Drive the adoption of BDD across Listed Rates and other Securities services, embedding consistent practices and supporting automation readiness.
  • Collaborate with Product, Risk, Operations and other partner teams to ensure all business, regulatory and operational requirements are captured and validated.
  • Produce clear and comprehensive project documentation, including Business Requirements and Functional Specifications, with strong emphasis on BDD‑based requirements for downstream automation.
  • Work with technical teams to define solution approaches and ensure business requirements—including non‑functional needs—are fully reflected in design.
  • Support the definition of test cases and test scenarios for Functional, UAT and Regression phases, ensuring alignment with BDD models.
  • Assist in solution walkthroughs, readiness activities and implementation planning.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience working on large‑scale IT change initiatives as a Senior Business Analyst, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Deep knowledge of financial products, particularly Repo and Equities markets.
  • Strong understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies and experience working within multi‑disciplinary delivery teams.
  • Hands‑on experience writing and maintaining BDD specifications (Gherkin), and applying BDD within Agile delivery frameworks.
  • In‑depth understanding of SWIFT and FIXML messaging within trading and clearing environments, and strong familiarity with XML and JSON formats.
  • Minimum 5 years of Business Analysis experience, ideally within digital products, trading systems, clearing, or financial technology.
  • University degree or equivalent professional experience.
