Company:

Oliver Wyman

Description:

Job Profile Description

Lead Product Manager

Description:

The Lead Product Manager plays a pivotal leadership role in steering the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of OW Tech's most strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with the company's strategy, commitments, and goals. This role leads a team of Tech Product Managers (TPMs), providing direction, coaching, and oversight across a portfolio of business-facing cloud, data, and AI-enabled initiatives.

This position adheres to and helps shape best practices, standards, and guidelines in both product and initiative management. As an internal role, the Lead Product Manager supports initiatives and teams across Oliver Wyman while developing the next generation of product management talent within the technology organization. While our primary focus is on consulting, this position is situated within our Technology organization.

We will count on you to:

- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of TPMs — setting clear performance expectations, providing regular coaching, and driving their professional growth.

- Establish and evolve product management standards, frameworks, and ways of working across the OW Tech portfolio.

- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of a portfolio of OW Tech initiatives, ensuring alignment with departmental and organizational strategy.

- Allocate TPMs across initiatives based on complexity, business criticality, and individual strengths — balancing workloads with developmental opportunities.

- Drive prioritization and trade-off decisions across competing initiatives, partnering with senior OW Tech and business leaders to align on outcomes.

- Review and approve initiative plans authored by your team, ensuring well-defined objectives, deliverables, milestones, and communication plans.

- Manage portfolio-level resources, budgets, and financials, holding your team accountable for delivery against committed targets.

- Partner with OW Tech leadership to ensure roles, expectations, and accountabilities are clearly defined and understood across each initiative.

- Identify systemic risks, dependencies, and critical paths across the portfolio; coach your team to surface, escalate, and mitigate risks effectively.

- Build and maintain executive-level relationships with stakeholders, managing expectations and serving as the escalation point for your team.

- Ensure comprehensive initiative documentation and consistent reporting of health, status, and outcomes across all initiatives in your portfolio.

- Synthesize learnings across initiatives to drive continuous improvement.

What you need to have:

- Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills, including teamwork, facilitation, negotiation, consensus building, and the ability to develop high-performing teams, complemented by excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

- Proven people management experience, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and career development of product or program management professionals.

- In-depth knowledge of technology product and initiative management methodologies and frameworks, along with information management practices and tech solution delivery processes, procedures, and toolsets.

- A solid technical background with hands-on experience in product ownership and relationship management, particularly leading cloud-based and data-driven technology initiatives within large organizations.

- Working knowledge of AI concepts and capabilities sufficient to lead and direct AI-enabled initiatives effectively.

- Proficiency in budgeting, invoicing, and portfolio financial management, supported by excellent analytical and technical skills.

- Highly organized with exceptional planning capabilities, a strong customer service orientation, and a polished, professional demeanor.

- Proven ability to plan and facilitate effective leadership meetings, deliver senior-level presentations, and oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously, with 10+ years of experience in product and initiative management, including 3+ years managing other product or program managers.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, business, or equivalent experience.

What makes you stand out:

- Demonstrated experience leading or directly delivering AI-enabled or advanced analytics initiatives at scale.

- Proven ability to oversee the complete product lifecycle — from ideation and development to launch and post-launch analysis — ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs across your team's portfolio.

- Track record of building and scaling product aligned teams, including establishing career frameworks, attracting high-quality talent, and developing senior individual contributors.

- Exceptional organizational abilities that enable effective prioritization and coordination across multiple workstreams and direct reports, ensuring timely delivery and quality outcomes.

- Strong analytical skills to assess needs, user feedback, risks, and product performance across a portfolio, driving data-informed decision-making.

- Comfort working with and leading cross-functional engineering teams in fast-paced delivery environments.
