About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Python Developer to join a technical team working on software development and computational solutions within an international automotive environment.

The role focuses on designing, developing and maintaining Python back-end components, building functional prototypes, implementing automated tests and contributing to the continuous improvement of existing software solutions.

The ideal candidate combines strong Python programming skills with solid mathematical and computational capabilities, an understanding of software engineering best practices and the ability to work independently on complex technical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Python back-end modules and existing codebases based on business and technical requirements.
• Build functional prototypes to validate technical approaches and demonstrate solution feasibility.
• Translate requirements into efficient, reliable and maintainable software implementations.
• Contribute to technical solution design, evaluating implementation options and balancing technical complexity, development effort and expected value.
• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests within a Continuous Integration (CI) environment.
• Implement database-related functionality and data-processing components using SQL and relevant Python libraries.
• Apply appropriate data structures, algorithms, error-handling strategies and software design patterns.
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions to ensure code quality, consistency and maintainability.
• Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in existing software components.
• Refactor and improve existing code to enhance performance, reliability and maintainability.
• Ensure that implementations comply with established architecture, coding standards and technology guidelines.
• Maintain clear technical documentation covering implementation decisions, algorithms, data structures, assumptions and dependencies.
• Collaborate with developers, technical stakeholders and product representatives to clarify requirements and resolve technical challenges.
• Support continuous integration and delivery practices, version control and release validation.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement of development practices.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience in Python back-end development.
• Strong proficiency in Python, including advanced coding practices, data structures, algorithms and error handling.
• Experience developing new software modules and maintaining existing Python applications.
• Strong mathematical and computational skills, with the ability to implement and validate computational logic.
• Experience writing unit tests and integration tests and working within a Continuous Integration environment.
• Good knowledge of SQL and experience implementing database-related functionality.
• Practical experience with Python libraries such as Pandas and NumPy.
• Familiarity with PythonOCC / pythonocc-core or comparable computational libraries is an advantage, depending on the solution requirements.
• Experience using Git or other version control systems, such as Mercurial or SVN.
• Understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, code quality and maintainability.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud-based development environments.
• Ability to analyse complex technical requirements, evaluate implementation alternatives and solve problems independently.
• Experience participating in code reviews and collaborating with other developers on technical solutions.
• Good documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in an international, Agile software development environment.
• Professional English proficiency.
