Req ID:516208

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling, and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, 80,000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Could you be the full-time System Architect in Bucharest we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your technical and creative expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside dynamic, adaptable, and forward-thinking teammates.

You'll perform System Design Activities related to Romanian Projects, contributing to the development of innovative and efficient transport systems. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business, including Project Architects, Project Engineering Managers, Subsystem Leaders, and teams from other sites, to innovate and streamline our systems.

You’ll specifically take care of managing technical issues, overseeing technical documentation, and participating in material selection and procurement, while also contributing to the continuous improvement of our systems and processes.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Being an active member of the program engineering team

  • Applying processes, methods, and tools as referenced by the project plans

  • Supporting the Program Development Manager in identifying technical risks and defining the development strategy

  • Ensuring quality, consistency, and on-time delivery of system specifications in collaboration with System and Subsystem Designers

  • Leading and participating in system design, defining the system architecture, and applying System Engineering techniques

  • Specifying and managing system requirements, including RAM, safety, cybersecurity, and V&V needs

  • Interfacing with the Product team System Application Architect and Subsystem Architects to ensure alignment

  • Alerting and reporting on events or risks that may impact system behavior and/or architecture

  • Participating in the program Change Control Board (CCB)

  • Staying informed about evolving technologies and product constraints

  • Contributing to continuous improvement through Return of Experience (REX), process enhancements, and workload estimations

  • Promoting the Alstom Code of Ethics and adhering to the highest standards of ethical conduct

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • A University Degree in Engineering (Transportation Systems, Electronics, Telecommunications, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent)

  • Collaborative teamwork and effective communication skills

  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet changing project needs

  • Understanding of railway signalling principles

  • Strong analytical skillset

  • Familiarity with ITC Hardware architectures

  • Innovative thinking to develop practical solutions

  • Proven planning and organizational abilities

  • A cooperative team player mindset

  • Knowledge of and ability to work to relevant specifications and standards

  • Clear and concise documentation skills

  • Awareness of quality and safety management processes

  • Proficiency in English communication (at least an intermediate level)

Things you’ll enjoy

Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from boring daily routines

  • Work with new standards for rail traffic management

  • Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues

  • Contribute to innovative projects

  • Utilize our dynamic, friendly, and flexible working environment

  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries

  • Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning

  • Progress towards Verification and Validation Management or other projects/teams

  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognizes your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension)

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
