Job Description - Cost and Estimating Manager

Overview

Working with Knight Frank as a Cost Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing financial aspects of construction projects.

Your primary responsibility will be to ensure accurate cost estimation, budgeting, and financial control throughout the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will possess strong construction industry knowledge, exceptional financial acumen, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders to achieve project objectives within budgetary constraints.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide cost and commercial services in the delivery of pre- and post-contract projects.
  2. Work pre-contract including reviewing detailed measurements and sections of BOQs, handling tender query responses, managing the PQQ process with support and input into value engineering at each design stage.
  3. Work post-contract including contract administration, conducting site surveys with project teams, preparing cash flow reports, drafting monthly payment recommendations and weekly commercial dashboards, managing variations and assisting in closing out projects and claims and variations.
  4. Deliver post-contract duties including payment certification and cost reporting.
  5. Manage and update project budgets and issue client cost reports.
  6. Take suitable commercial meeting minutes.
  7. Work closely with clients, design teams and contractors to optimize solutions.
  8. Provide regular reports and analysis to management and clients regarding project performance.
  9. Be proficient in the use of the NRM Method of Measurement.
  10. Attend and contribute to regular commercial meetings with the client and contractors.
  11. Carry out cost estimates for alternative design and buildability solutions.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Must have a primary degree in Quantity Surveying.
  • 5 years minimum Quantity Surveying experience.
  • 7 years of experience in the preparation and review of Construction Bid submissions.
  • Must have had direct exposure to construction pricing in the Saudi market.
  • Preference is to be from a recent Contractor background (if available).
  • Must have experience in claims management and administration.
  • Must have a high proficiency in the preparation and review of Pre-Tender and Tender Estimates.
  • Must have experience in the preparation of RFPs and Employer’s Requirements.

Certifications and Licenses

MRICS desired but not essential.

Software

CostX, Excel, and other Microsoft Office programs to an advanced level.

Language skills

Fluency in Arabic and English, written and verbal.

Travel

Flexible attitude towards traveling.
