AtkinsRéalis are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Design Director - Engineering (MEP) to join their buildings design team in either Dubai, UAE or Riyadh, KSA. The candidate will lead the design and execution of MEP projects in the Middle East.

Responsibilities:

As a member of the Building Design team, you will be involved in real projects from day one, with exposure to some of the most demanding projects.   • Lead and manage the MEP design team, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to engineers and other staff.

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of MEP projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements, budget, and timelines.

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve team efficiency and project outcomes.

  • Take full responsibility for the management of MEP projects from conception through completion.

  • Develop detailed project plans, including schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.

  • Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement solutions to ensure project objectives are met.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met or exceeded.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients on MEP projects, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns.

  • Identify opportunities for new business and collaborate with the business development team to secure new projects.

  • Provide technical leadership and expertise in MEP design, ensuring all projects comply with relevant codes, standards, and best practices.

  • Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, and specifications.

  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in MEP engineering to continuously enhance service offerings.

  • Implement and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure the highest standards of engineering excellence.

  • Work closely with other departments, including architecture, structural engineering, and construction management, to ensure seamless project integration.

  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, encouraging open communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Chartered Engineer with the relevant Institute

  • 20+ years’ experience in delivering major projects.

  • 15+ years’ experience in a multi-disciplinary Team Leader position

  • An in-depth understanding of all MEP and building services design processes.

  • Proven track record of managing large-scale MEP projects in a consulting environment.

  • Strong project management skills, with proficiency in project management software and methodologies.

  • Excellent client management skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.

  • In-depth knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and best practices in MEP engineering.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
