Job Requirements
- Master's degree in Nursing with clinical focus (onlinedegrees/diplomas are not accepted), and
- Current Nursing(RN) license in North America, Western Europe, or Australia/NewZealand, and
- Specialty qualification related to area ofexpertise required. Evidence must be provided, and
- Minimumof six years of current experience as a RN, including at least twoyears of current experience in the specialty area, working in a mid-to large-size acute-care hospital setting in North America, WesternEurope, or Australia/New Zealand.
DepartmentInformation
The Colorectal Therapy Unit providesspecialized holistic patient centered services for paediatrics andadults with stomas, enterocutaneous fistula, defaecatory disorders,and adults referred to the Section of Colorectal Surgery, throughoutinpatient, outpatient, and home health care settings including nurseled clinics. Frequent procedures/services/functions:
- Holistic assessment, diagnosis and treatment ofindividuals with stoma, colorectal wound conditions and defaecatorydisorders.
- Anorectal physiology, retraining andbiofeedback treatment for patients with defaecatory disorders.
- Identification of intrinsic and extrinsic factors that may delaythe patient's progress.
- Collaboration with themultidisciplinary team.
- Providing expert advice, andassisting with the plan of care for patients with stomas,enterocutaneous fistula, defaecatory disorders, and patientsundergoing colorectal surgery.
- Providing assistance withspecialist supplies as necessary.
- Patient and familyeducation, counseling and support.
- Assisting withdischarge planning and home supply issues.
- Providing andupdating patient education material.
- Provision of an emailand telephone patient helpline.
- Provision of a one weekpostoperative follow-up telephone service.
- Provision of avirtual defecatory disorder follow-up clinic
- Provision ofa patient advocacy service for stoma patients as requested.
- Provision of a biannual ostomy patient news letter.
- Identifying educational needs of nursing staff and providing classesand materials for staff development.
- Development andprovision of workshops and courses to aid advancement of skills andknowledge within the Kingdom.
- Sourcing, reviewing,trialing and assisting in the maintenance of specialist ostomy andincontinence supplies in the hospital.
- Collection anddissemination of data on patient visits.
- Involvement inresearch related to specialty.
- Identifying areas forperformance improvement in program area, and planning, implementingand reviewing projects.
- Collection of data for theregistration of patients with hereditary colorectal conditions
- Organisation and communication of investigations and appointmentsfor colorectal cancer and familial adenomatous polyposis patients andtheir families
- Planning and organizing the colorectaltumour board activities
- Submission of tumour board andregistry reports
Hours of operations:
0700 - 1700 Saturday to Tuesday
0700 - 1600 Wednesday
