Psychiatry Consultant

Job Description

• Provides satisfactory, high quality medical care to patients in general and more specifically to those with mental disorders, including the provisions of appropriate consultative services as requested by other inpatient and outpatient consultants, in accordance with the standards of medical care lay down by SFHP-D.
• Organize s , analyze s and evaluate s patient s' data and test or examination findings to diagnose nature and extent of mental disorder.
• Examines patient s to determine physical conditions following standard medical procedures.
• Prescribe s , direct s , and administer s psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat, mental, emotional or behavioral disorder.
• Collaborate s with physicians, psychologist, social workers, and nurses to discuss treatment plans and progress.
• Gather s and maintain s patients' information and records including social and medical history.
• Design s individualized care plans, using a variety of treatments.
• Examine s or conduct s laboratory or diagnostic tests on patient to provide information on general physical condition and mental disorder.
• Advise s and inform s guardians, relatives and significant others of patient’s conditions and treatment.
• Performs psychiatric assessment by undertaking a mental status examination and the comprehensive mental history.
• Assumes responsibility for patients under his care. Liaises with various support services departments and medical specialization to provide appropriate and timely care in accordance with the standards laid down by SFHP-D.
• Shares actively in patient & family education in collaboration with social worker services.
• Responsible of all out-patient clinic according to the assigned schedule of the department.
