Role Summary
KSA Medical Manager is a core member of the brand team and takes the medical lead in the Respiratory franchise through,
1) Providing key medical input to the marketing-sales-market access interface
2) Deliver strategic educational and practice change medical affairs projects.
3) Engaging key external experts (KEE) and change advocates.
4) Field coaching for Medical Science Liaisons (MSL) in Respiratory Therapy area.
These outputs are guaranteed through continuously building robust scientific and medical expertise in the therapeutic area, AstraZeneca products, and its competitors, in combination with a business acumen attitude and strong communication skills.
What you’ll do
Maintain top-notch robust scientific and medical expertise:
- Keep track of relevant scientific peer-reviewed literature.
- Attend international and national scientific and medical congresses as needed.
- Engage with all relevant KEEs and change advocates across KSA.
- Assimilate customer insights obtained through different means.
- Ensure excellent, up-to-date scientific knowledge in product and therapeutic areas among internal colleagues through knowledge updates and medical product training sessions.
- Respond to unsolicited Medical Information (MI) requests about approved or unapproved AstraZeneca products or about unapproved uses of approved AstraZeneca products.
Deliver key medical input into the brand strategy:
- Own and lead the execution of the prelaunch readiness milestones and building new class advocacy for new launches.
- Works in a strategic partnership with the value team (e.g., Marketing and Market Access team)
- Core member of the cross-functional brand team.
- High-quality scientific and medical input in the Brand Teams, Brand brand-building framework, strategic brand projects, and Campaigns
- Participate in developing and evaluating the local operational brand strategy by ensuring the input of KEEs, customer insights, and competitive intelligence.
- Responsible for reviewing and approving promotional material - solution-driven with a thorough understanding of the promotional standards code (company and local)
- Responsible for medical training of the sales force.
Deliver strategic and educational medical projects:
- Develop and execute medical affairs projects (e.g., build evidence) of the brand plan according to budget and timelines.
- Accurate retro-planning of projects with close follow-up in line with defined goals and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)
- Close follow-up of the projects’ budget.
- Excellent communication on the progress of projects to all internal stakeholders
Build partnerships with Key External Experts:
- Build and maintain visibility and excellent long-term professional relationships with Key External Experts
- Gather their insights and feed these insights back to the brand team.
- Advocacy mapping, building, and management.
- Discussions with KEEs on the latest scientific updates on Asthma and COPD diagnosis, treatment, and management optimization.
- Lead national advisory boards and scientific exchange meetings with KEE.
- Involve KEE in medico-marketing projects and internal training.
- Manage Real World Evidence projects. (observational studies, local data collection)
Provide support to his direct reported MSLs:
- Coach and develop MSLs to be best in class (scientific expertise, communication skills, business acumen).
- Provide quarterly customer insights and status of MSL plans to the brand team.

Essential for the role
- Pharmacist Degree (preferably medical doctor or pharmacist) or scientific degree with PhD.
- At least 3 years of experience in a medical affairs role in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Proven expertise in understanding, assimilating, and communicating scientific content.
- Entrepreneurial and collaborative approach to engaging with external partners as well as cross-functional colleagues.
- Working knowledge and understanding of relevant Legislation and Codes of Practice relating to promotional activities.
- Demonstrated understanding of patient needs.
- Current familiarity with the healthcare environment, including opinion leaders, academia, the medical community, and related dynamics in KSA.
- Knowledgeable of the Pharma and KSA healthcare environment.
- Experience in developing and maintaining External Experts relationships.
- Medical integrity and ethical balance.
- Languages: Fluent in English
