Position Summary:

The HR Manager is responsible for leading and managing the human resources functions for our logistics company. This includes recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance with labor laws, and the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures. The HR Manager plays a critical role in fostering a positive work environment and ensuring the company's workforce is effectively utilized.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Recruitment and Staffing:
  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies to attract top talent for various roles within the company.
  • Oversee the entire recruitment process, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and hiring.
  • Collaborate with department heads to understand staffing needs and create job descriptions.
  1. Employee Relations:
  • Foster a positive work environment through effective communication, conflict resolution, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Address employee concerns, grievances, and disciplinary issues in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Promote a culture of respect, inclusion, and collaboration.
  1. Performance Management:
  • Implement and manage performance appraisal systems to evaluate employee performance.
  • Provide guidance to managers on performance improvement plans and employee development.
  • Conduct regular training sessions on performance management best practices.
  1. Compliance and Policy Development:
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal labor laws and regulations.
  • Develop, update, and enforce HR policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and update the employee handbook as necessary.
  1. Training and Development:
  • Identify training needs and develop training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
  • Organize and conduct training sessions on various topics, including safety, compliance, and professional development.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs.
  1. Compensation and Benefits:
  • Oversee the administration of compensation and benefits programs.
  • Conduct regular benchmarking to ensure competitive and fair compensation practices.
  • Manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks.
  1. HR Metrics and Reporting:
  • Track and analyze HR metrics to assess the effectiveness of HR initiatives and programs.
  • Prepare and present reports on HR activities and metrics to senior management.
  • Use data-driven insights to improve HR processes and strategies.
  1. HR Technology and Systems:
  • Manage and optimize HR information systems (HRIS) for efficient HR operations.
  • Ensure data accuracy and confidentiality in all HR records and systems.
  • Leverage HR technology to streamline processes and improve employee experiences.
  1. Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Lead and mentor the HR team, providing guidance and support to achieve departmental goals.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align HR strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Participate in senior management meetings to provide HR insights and recommendations.

Skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR management, preferably within the logistics or transportation industry.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws, employment regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Proven experience in recruitment, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Proficient in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite.
