Job Description - Academic Administrator

Job description

The Academic Administrator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of academic programs within an educational institution. This role involves supporting faculty and students, managing academic records, ensuring compliance with institutional policies, scheduling courses, assisting in curriculum development, and contributing to the overall academic mission and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the academic calendar, class schedules, and course offerings.
  • Coordinate student registration, enrollment, and academic record-keeping.
  • Support faculty in academic planning, classroom logistics, and resource management.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, institutional policies, and academic regulations.
  • Assist in curriculum development, program reviews, and course evaluations.
  • Organize academic events such as orientations, workshops, and seminars.
  • Act as a liaison between students, faculty, administration, and external agencies.
  • Prepare academic reports, statistics, and documentation for management review.
  • Handle student inquiries related to academic policies, course requirements, and program structures.
  • Maintain and update learning management systems (LMS) and academic databases.
  • Monitor and support academic advising processes.
  • Contribute to strategic planning for academic growth and program development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education Administration, Business Administration, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
  • Proven experience (typically 3+ years) in academic administration or a similar administrative role in an educational environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in academic management software, databases, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of educational regulations, accreditation processes, and student support services.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Moodle).
  • Project management and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
