Job Description - Concessions Specialist

About the Family & Social Services Administration (FSSA):

The Division of Disability, Aging and Rehabilitative services works to support older adults and individuals with disabilities, while also connecting them with local community resources that promote independence. Help for every life at every age.

 

Role Overview

This role may be located in the Indianapolis or Evansville areas depending on candidate selection.  

 

Salary Statement

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience.

 


A Day in the Life:

​The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Consult with property managers and site grantors to design and establish sites and assess feasibility of site locations. 
  • Train visually impaired vendors in purchasing, placement, and site operations. 
  • Monitor sites to ensure compliance with state and federal rules and regulations. 
  • Meet with, and answers questions from, representatives of companies and state and federal agencies providing detailed information on site availability. 
  • Refer representatives to appropriate information sources when unable to answer questions. 
  • Work with rehabilitation staff to arrange for client entry into training and vendor programs. 
  • Counsel and maintain records of each client’s progress towards established program goals. 
  • Provide guidance to visually impaired individuals in establishing goals and objectives. 
  • Counsel clients and building management to attain a maximum client income. 
  • Coordinate and assist visually impaired vendors to set up business sites.

What You'll Need for Success:

Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:

  • Specialized knowledge of design specifications and small business economics.
  • Working knowledge of sales and marketing techniques.
  • Working knowledge of purchasing.
  • Working knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping principles.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with the community.
  • Ability to train and counsel visually impaired vendors. 
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Effective communication skills.

You must satisfy the following requirements to continue employment:

  • Specialized knowledge of Randolph Sheppard Act 
  • Specialized knowledge of rules and regulations related to vocationally challenged individuals.

A degree is not required. However, a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) is required.

Individuals should have the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
