ROLE OVERVIEW

The Energy & Climate Change Specialist will support the monitoring, reporting, and management of energy transition and climate-related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) under programs led by the Client.

The role focuses on ensuring that strategic sustainability, decarbonisation, and energy efficiency targets are effectively tracked and aligned with national objectives, including Saudi Arabia's climate commitments and energy transition strategies.

The successful candidate will work closely with government entities, project developers, infrastructure operators, and consultants to monitor progress against climate and energy performance metrics across Riyadh's urban development initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in Energy Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Climate Change, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A Master's degree in a relevant field is desirable.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in energy, climate change, sustainability, or related fields.
• Proven experience in KPI monitoring, climate strategy implementation, or energy performance management. Previous experience in PMC / PMO roles are preferred.
• Experience working with government entities, large infrastructure projects, or urban development programs is preferred.
• Familiarity with energy transition policies, decarbonization pathways, and climate action frameworks.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

• Strong understanding of energy efficiency, renewable energy, and carbon reduction strategies.
• Knowledge of climate change mitigation frameworks and greenhouse gas accounting principles.
• Experience with data analytics, KPI tracking systems, and performance monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with international standards such as: ISO 14064 / GHG Protocol, Climate action and city sustainability frameworks & Energy management systems (ISO 50001)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

KPI Monitoring and Performance Management

• Monitor and evaluate progress against energy and climate change KPIs established by the client across programs and infrastructure projects.
• Develop and maintain KPI tracking frameworks, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms.
• Review project submissions and performance data to assess compliance with defined sustainability and climate targets.
• Identify performance gaps and recommend corrective actions to ensure achievement of energy efficiency and emissions reduction objectives.

Climate and Energy Strategy Implementation

• Support implementation of city-level climate action plans, energy efficiency initiatives, and decarbonisation strategies.
• Provide technical expertise on renewable energy integration, energy demand reduction, and carbon management initiatives.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of climate and energy performance indicators aligned with international best practices.

Data Analysis and Reporting

• Analyse energy consumption, emissions, and climate performance data across multiple programs.
• Prepare periodic reports and presentations summarizing KPI progress for senior stakeholders and client leadership.
• Support development of digital dashboards and data management tools to improve KPI monitoring efficiency.
• Liaise with government agencies, project consultants, and contractors to collect required data and ensure reporting compliance.
• Facilitate technical workshops and meetings to review KPI performance and implementation progress.
• Provide advisory support to stakeholders on improving climate and energy performance outcomes.

Compliance and Benchmarking

• Ensure KPI frameworks align with international climate and energy standards and best practices.
• Benchmark Riyadh's climate and energy performance against leading global cities and initiatives.
• Support alignment with relevant sustainability frameworks and reporting standards.
