Job Description - Environmental Health & Safety Executive

Role Summary:

The function of the EHS Executive of the company is to conduct the EHS activities in the company, to build, maintain and develop good and close internal & external contact with government institutions, environment auditors, government agencies, suppliers etc. Maintain an efficient and accurate data collection, processing system of all pertinent data which are required for his control and reporting function, and which fulfils all legal requirements, to create EHS awareness & consciousness.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adequate safety measures are taken during equipment maintenance to safeguard personnel & equipment.
  • Help in implementing safe ways of working in engineering.
  • To carry out special projects as and when assigned.
  • Investigates accidents and/or incidents of injury or property damage at site to ascertain cause and need for corrective action; develops and implements measures and strategies to prevent their recurrence in order to meet long-range loss-reduction goals; advises departments as to the keeping of rec.
  • Conduct regular safety and fire drills.
  • Manage the inspections and audits from government and regulatory agencies.
  • Support the activities with regards to EHS management system in line with ISO 45001 and 14001 requirements.
  • Carry out the inspections and safety visits to the operational and project activities.
  • Maintains company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.
  • Make oneself available for any emergency and ensure that safe operations are implemented 24/7.
  • Set challenging & SMART objectives for yourself.
  • Improve safe working environment by demonstrating and supporting company’s value using leading edge practices.
  • Coordinate with other units to ensure build-up of teamwork.
  • Ensure Operational Excellence culture is promoted, and OE tools are understood and regularly practices on shop floor.
  • Share responsibility of EHS Operations in all the operational areas of Jamjoom Pharma.
  • Maintain adequate information system on relevant legislation, developments, and priorities.
  • Be able to interpret legislation and understand how it applies to the organization.
  • Maintain the up to date legal and other regulatory requirements and their compliance status.
  • Assist the employees to carry out the EHS risk assessments to ensure that all the routine operational.
  • activities are assessed.
  • Train the staff in English and Arabic on EHS procedures and policies
  • Assist and coordinate for designing procedures, and safe systems of work for internal reporting of compliance with safety procedures as well as program violations, curative steps, accidents, and injuries. He/ She also maintains Materials Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and other EHS related forms.
  • Analyses workforce accidents and injuries to determine where process changes, communication, or training needs improvement. Develops and manages reports for company management. He also recommends and implements program changes where necessary.
  • Coordinate in monitoring that EHS requirements are followed and prepares the company for government and certification bodies’ audits.
  • Conducts regular safety audits / inspection of facilities, worksites, equipment, work practices, and safety.
  • devices to ensure compliance with required workplace safety standards, as per country’s regulations.
  • Ensure that a cordial relationship focusing on Compliance, safety and Productivity is maintained with the workplace.
  • To involve and work in liaison with wide range of outside bodies and individuals including officers from regulatory authorities and licensing agencies.
  • Coordinate with agencies such as Civil Defense, public fire service, outside EHS trainers for first aid, firefighting, and use of PPE’s etc.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, mechanical engineering or any relevant filed.
  • Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience in the relevant field.
  • Basic concepts about importance of safety in work environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, including diplomacy to negotiate conflicting priorities.
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Office.
