Head of Resource Protection

Purpose of the role:

To own and lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of risk prevention solutions related to shrink, cash, safety, and security, ensuring effective protection of inventory, money, people, and assets across all workplaces, in line with company policies and governance standards.

Roles, responsibility and authority:

Inventory & Shrink Control

• Design and oversee audits (compliance guidance programs) for inventory-risk areas such as receiving, transfer, sales, home delivery, customer service, and returns, in collaboration with Retail Operations.


• Drive best practices that promote profit realization and shrink reduction.


• Oversee cycle count and physical count processes.


• Oversee scrap bidding process.


• Ensure proper collection and analysis of evidence of inventory shortage to support reconciliation, investigation, recommendation, termination and/or criminal prosecution.


• Monitor restitution of products when applicable.

Cash Risk Management

• Design and oversee audits (compliance guidance programs) for cash-risk areas such as cash collection, tills, overrides, returns, and gift cards, in collaboration with Retail Operations.


• Lead regular workplace risk assessments.


• Ensure proper collection and analysis of evidence of cash shortage to support reconciliation, investigation, recommendation, termination and/or criminal prosecution.


• Monitor restitution of payments from cash shortages when applicable.

People Safety & Integrity

• Design and oversee audits for SOP compliance.


• Own safety and security standards for employees, customers, and visitors.


• Develop and oversee Risk Prevention and Resource Protection awareness programs, policies, and procedures.


• Lead programs to reduce dishonest behavior and promote integrity.


• Drive awareness of shrinkage causes, controls, and prevention measures.


• Approve training programs (First Aid, Fire Fighting, Forklift) in coordination with HR and Operations.

Reporting, Technology & External Relations

• Lead the strategy for safety and security technologies, including selection, maintenance, upgrades, and investment decisions.


• Approve communication and awareness materials related to safety and security.


• Report Resource Protection performance and compliance to the Risk Prevention Committee and Leadership Team.


• Approve Shrink Alert and awareness communications.


• Oversee Resource Protection content on the intranet portal.


• Set standards for reporting, escalation, investigation, and documentation.


• Work with Operations, HR, Legal, Law Enforcement, and Government Agencies in criminal and high-risk cases, providing evidence and recommendations while HR and Legal own final actions.

Budget and Investment

• Own the Resource Protection budget.


• Approve RP tools, systems, and initiatives based on risk impact and ROI.

Team and Capability Leadership

• Lead the Resource Protection department with accountability for results and cost.


• Build leadership capability and succession within RP.


• Define competencies, performance standards, and development plans for RP roles.


• Recruit, develop, and lead Resource Protection teams and manage performance in line with HR and company policies.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or an equivalent.


• Minimum 10–12 years in Resource Protection, Risk, Security, or Loss Prevention.


• At least 5 years in senior leadership or head-of-function roles.


• Strong experience in retail or multi-site operations.
