Import Junior Buyer Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Import Junior Buyer to join our procurement team. The successful candidate will support sourcing activities, manage import purchasing processes, and coordinate with international suppliers to ensure timely product availability. In addition, the role requires close collaboration with logistics, finance, and internal stakeholders to maintain efficient supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement and Sourcing
- Assist in sourcing products from international suppliers based on company requirements.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders in accordance with company policies.
- Follow up on order confirmations, production schedules, and shipment timelines.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate replenishment activities to avoid shortages.
- Support negotiations related to pricing, delivery terms, and payment conditions.
Supplier Management
- Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers.
- Evaluate supplier performance regarding quality, cost, and delivery.
- Communicate regularly with suppliers to resolve order-related issues.
- Support the identification and qualification of new suppliers.
Import and Logistics Coordination
- Coordinate import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and shipping documents.
- Work closely with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and logistics providers.
- Track shipments and ensure timely delivery to warehouses or distribution centers.
- Ensure compliance with import regulations, customs requirements, and company standards.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Update and maintain purchasing records, supplier databases, and pricing information.
- Prepare procurement reports, cost analyses, and performance summaries.
- Monitor market trends and provide recommendations for cost-saving opportunities.
- Analyze purchasing data to support management decisions.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- 0–3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or import operations.
- Experience in import/export activities is an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle is preferred.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
