JobDescription

We are seeking a passionate anddynamic marketing leader with a track record of driving highlysuccessful teams across multiple projects. Working alongside thecommercial and marketing teams the individual will be a keycontributor to business strategy providing ideas and insight todrive continuous improvement and develop new initiatives. TheMarketing Director will manage a team of senior managers marketingexecutives and specialist functions and will be a skilled marketingstrategist able to inspire creativity and enthusiasm in others. Theindividual needs to be analytical and data orientated with ahistory of testing and optimisation but with creative flair andexceptional attention to detail. The candidate should haveextensive experience of digital marketing and marketing technologyand be accustomed to delivering in a fastpaced dynamicenvironment.

KeyResponsibilities:

  • To ensure strategicmarketing objectives are identified andachieved
  • To act as a change managementambassador demonstrating a positive and constructive attitudetowards challenges and change
  • To share bestpractice within the team and wider business
  • Toensure the team has the appropriate skills and resources to deliveragreed objectives
  • To actively contribute to thestrategic plans for products within theportfolio
  • To manage an event marketing team andwork with specialist functions and roles including; digitalmarketers designers content creators social media and audiencedevelopment

Key PerformanceIndicators:

  • Devise and deliverinnovative consumer and B2B marketing campaigns to achievepredetermined objectives/targets
  • Marketing teamis motivated and appropriately skilled/trained to carry out theirresponsibilities
  • Marketing team workscollaboratively with other departments to deliver sharedobjectives
  • Marketing campaigns are deliveredwithin budget with spend allocations based on sound commercialreasoning

Main Duties &Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Memberof the portfolios management team
  • Active rolein the development and implementation ofinitiatives
  • Work with portfolio management todevelop value propositions and messaging to drive engagement andconversion
  • Identify and deliver keyportfoliowide projects to position products for continued growth(e.g. branding cross marketing key account management first timeexhibitor experience etc)
  • Understand recentcustomer survey feedback and apply this information to marketingstrategies
  • Identify risks to the businessachieving marketing targets and work with the portfolio managementteam to mitigate
  • Share marketing case studiesand best practice from across the business by forging collaborativerelationships with marketers from across theportfolios

Management

  • Leada team of marketing and digital managers across a portfolio ofproducts.
  • Provide guidance feedback andinspiration to the team.
  • Work with MarketingManagers to ensure successful delivery of marketing campaigns inline with agreed KPIs event and divisionalstrategy.
  • Work with line reports to developskills and competencies and ensure they have a clear developmentroadmap.
  • Develop succession plan to identifytop talent flight risks and guarantee continuous delivery from theteam.
  • Champion the adoption and optimisation ofmarketing technology solutions
  • Cultivate anddemonstrate a highperformance culture within the marketingteam.

Campaign Strategy &Delivery

  • Lead the portfolios marketingstrategy. Responsible for the marketing data and digital portfoliostrategy and delivering strategic showmarketing.
  • A clear understanding of thebusinesss overall mission how this should be communicated throughmarketing and PR and an ability to use marketing technology todeliver results.
  • Responsible for best practiceand knowledge sharing (marketing digital data and customerinsights) across the portfolio.
  • Take the leadand document the results of pilot projects andtesting.
  • Develop the capabilities of marketingacross the portfolio integrating technology into the strategy andtactical delivery. Ensure team are equipped with the skills todeliver a fresh campaign strategy.
  • Managebudgets and allocate resources amongstprojects.
  • Demonstrate and encourage creativeapproaches using market intelligence and apply it to show contentto create unique and engaging visitorexperiences.
  • Work with show teams to optimisethe engagement at each touch point in the customer journey byencouraging teams to introduce new ways of marketing and reducereliance on more familiar activities that produce decliningresults.
  • Identify trends in data to encourageteams to do more of what works and less of what doesnt; navigatingthe move away from opiniondriven decision making to datadrivendecisionmaking.

Qualifications

MinimumEducation Level:

  • Educated to degreelevel or equivalent
  • Background Knowledge Skills& Experience:
  • Significant marketingleadership experience
  • Experience of managing asenior team (managing managers)
  • Experience ofworking with and managing senior stakeholders includinggovernment
  • Extensive experience of consumermarketing ideally in events
  • Analytical andquestioning mindset
  • Deadline and targetdriven
  • Thorough understanding &experience of digital (PPC SEO online advertising) and directmarketing
  • Database development and growthincluding segmentation / advancedtargeting
  • Building relationships with partnersand stakeholders
  • Significant exposure to designand print suppliers / agencies
  • Experience ofworking in a pressurised environment
  • Excellentverbal and written communicationskills
  • Proficient in MS Office includingintermediate/advanced PowerPoint Word andExcel

Desirable

  • Experienceof using marketing automation technology (preferablyEloqua)
  • Experience of working with CMSplatforms
  • Experience of managing social mediathrough scheduling platforms such as Sprout Social or Hootesuiteetc. and experience of social media listening and sentimentanalysis
  • Experience of marketing analytics andreporting platforms (Google Analytics/Adobe orothers)
  • Experience using Eloqua and/or AdobeExperience Manager
  • Events marketingexperience
  • Experience of agile marketing andscaled agile desirable
  • Formalbusiness/marketing higher educationqualification
