  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (online degrees/diplomas are not accepted), and
  • Current Nursing (RN) license in North America, Western Europe, or Australia/New Zealand, and
  • Specialty qualification related to area of expertise required. Evidence must be provided, and
  • Minimum of four years with MSN or six years with BSN of current experience as a RN, including at least two years of current leadership experience, working in a mid- to large-size acute-care hospital setting in North America, Western Europe, or Australia/New Zealand.
  • Department Information

    This Center for Children’s Cancer Research in Riyadh is a 40-bed hospital operates as part of our client hospital and offers both inpatient and outpatient facilities.

    This is the largest program dedicated to pediatric cancer and blood disorders in the region, and the second largest internationally (second to St Jude, USA). Between 60 – 70% (approximately 350-450 new cases annually) of the Kingdom’s pediatric malignancies are cared for by the Department of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. In addition to pediatric oncology, the program is considered the reference center in the region for the complicated non-malignant hematological disorders.

    The Children’s Cancer Center consists of:

  • Two inpatient care wards (Ward A, Ward B)
  • Outpatient Department
  • Walk-in Clinic
  • Pediatric oncology ICU
  • Care Ward B (CWB) is a twenty (20) bed ward, which provides acute care to pediatric hematology and oncology patients from birth to 14 years of age. The unit consists of four (4) negative air pressure rooms for isolation and sixteen (16) positive air pressure rooms.

    The most commonly treated oncology/hematology disorders include:

  • Osteosarcomas
  • Ewing’s Sarcoma/PNET
  • Neuroblastoma
  • Medulloblastoma / CNS tumors
  • Brain tumors
  • Germ Cell Tumor
  • Wilm’s Tumor
  • Rhabdomyosarcoma
  • Retinoblastoma
  • Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia
  • Acute Myelogenous Leukemia
  • Aplastic Anemia
  • Sickle Cell Anemia
  • Langerhan’s Cell Histiocytosis
  • Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
  • Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
  • Burkitt’s Lymphoma
  • Frequent Procedures/Services/Functions

  • Medication delivery including chemotherapy administration and management
  • Blood product administration
  • Central and peripheral intravenous line management
  • Pain management
  • Bone marrow biopsy and aspiration
  • Lumbar puncture
  • Patient assessment and evaluation
  • Patient/family education
  • Hemodynamic monitoring
  • Oxygen therapy and pulse oximetry
  • Conscious sedation

  • Nutritional support (TPN, weight assessment, dietary instruction)

  • BMT work-up
  • Diagnostic and Treatment evaluation
  • Radiation therapy
  • STAFFING PLAN Number and Mix of Staff:RN Staff, all SN1’s.
    Charge Nurse who works 07:00 to 17:00 Saturday-Tuesday and 07:00-16:00 on Wednesday.
    Team Leader appointed for night shift and weekends.
    Day shift staffing: 6 nurses.
    Night shift staffing: 5 nurses.
    Patient Care Assistant (PCA) on dayshift (07:00-19:00).
    Ward Clerk coverage until 21:00.

    The Head Nurse has overall responsibility for the unit, with a Charge Nurse/Team Leader who
    coordinates admissions and discharges with consultants, admission office and/or case management. The Charge Nurse/Team Leader also determines assignment of nurses and oversees general function of the ward and organizes procedures.

    The Charge Nurse/Team Leader determines patient assignments using but not limited to the following criteria:

  • Complexity of patient’s condition and nursing care required.
  • Patient acuity.
  • Continuity of care.
  • Unit specific Competencies of nursing staff.
  • Relevant infection control and safety issues.
  • Hours of Operation:24 hours per day, 7 days a week

    1:4 – 5 (nights)
    NHPPD 6.7
