The Role
Sandsoft is looking for a Paralegal to support the legal team, assisting with all legal matters handled by the department but with a focus on video game publishing and development, marketing, IP, and corporate legal issues.
The Day-to-Day Tasks
- Build strong relationships with business clients by partnering with internal stakeholders to provide legal support across the business.
- Review video game assets and marketing materials for release, including by conducting intellectual property clearance and reviewing for compliance with applicable laws, regulations, company standards and game rating requirements.
- Manage Sandsoft’s trademark portfolio.
- Manage ongoing company annual regulatory filings.
- Negotiate and draft certain Sandsoft standard agreements, including NDAs and Services Agreements.
- Assist the business in execution of promotions, including reviewing promotion creative assets for compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Conduct legal research for other members of the legal team.
- Build and maintain a solid understanding of the video game industry, Sandsoft’s portfolio of products, and relevant laws by keeping up with industry news and attending legal conferences.
The Desired Skillset:
- An eagerness to be involved in a company early in its set up and expansion, as well as cutting-edge legal issues and working closely with a team.
- 2+ years of experience in intellectual property, technology, marketing/advertising, promotions or entertainment law, in-house or at a law firm.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Paralegal experience.
- Ability to assess priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- A passion for video games is not required, but nice to have.
