Senior Road Expert - Highways Design

The project:

This is an opportunity to work on one of the largest programmes in Saudi Arabia. This unique project consists of major mixed-use development including sports facilities, entertainment, and arts along with all associated infrastructure.

Provides independent senior highway engineering expertise, acting as a trusted advisor across complex infrastructure projects. Ensures highway designs are technically robust, compliant, safe, constructible, and effectively coordinated, supporting efficient approvals, delivery, and programme objectives.

You’ll be responsible for:

•    Provide technical leadership and assurance for highway design, ensuring compliance with standards, governance requirements, and industry best practices.
•    Review and challenge design deliverables, identifying risks and driving safe, coordinated, and constructible solutions.
•    Support stakeholder engagement, authority approvals, and consultant oversight to enable effective project delivery.
•    Deliver technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives, promoting design excellence and value optimisation.
•    Direct and manage design delivery, resources, and operational performance across projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
•    Act as the focal point for design management, driving governance, compliance, and continuous improvement.
•    Support project delivery, procurement, and business development activities, contributing to successful client outcomes.
•    Promote technical excellence, capability development, and collaboration while supporting Mace’s net zero carbon commitments.

You'll need to have:

•    Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering; master’s degree preferred.
•    Chartered membership or equivalent professional engineering registration preferred.
•    Extensive highway design experience, including major infrastructure and Middle East projects.
•    Extensive years of experience in highway and road design with a minimum of significant years of experience in the Middle East.
•    Experience in the successful delivery phase of projects and programmes in the consultancy sector.
•    Strong expertise in geometric design, pavements, drainage, interchanges, and road safety.
•    Proficient in highway design software and stakeholder engagement with regulatory authorities.
