In our 12 countries (Europe, Middle East, Asia) of operation, we are working on the production and distribution of low-carbon electricity, through the development of nuclear and renewable energies. We are also supporting the modernisation and development of energy grids, managing the setup and siting for new transmission and distribution networks, and using hydrogen to decarbonise the transport and industry sectors.
Senior Wind Energy Specialist
We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Senior Wind Energy Specialist to join our forward-thinking renewable energy team. The ideal candidate will bring over 10 years of proven experience in the renewable energy sector, with a primary focus on large-scale wind energy projects. This role demands deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to engage with clients and stakeholders effectively throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
1. Wind Resource Assessment & Site Feasibility
Lead comprehensive desktop studies and wind resource assessments, utilizing industry-standard software and methodologies to evaluate project viability.
Conduct constraints mapping and analyze terrain, environmental, and climatic conditions to determine optimal turbine siting.
Perform technology reviews to identify suitable wind turbines and assess system compatibility based on wind class, capacity, and site conditions.
Evaluate interconnection and transmission options, advising on substation siting and grid compliance requirements.
2. Cost Estimation & Financial Analysis
Prepare detailed preliminary CAPEX and OPEX estimates (±10% accuracy) aligned with project scale and technical specifications.
Conduct cost-benefit analyses and system optimization based on financial and operational factors to ensure long-term project performance.
3. Energy Yield Analysis
Deliver high-quality Energy Yield Assessments (P50, P75, P90) using advanced modeling tools to estimate production forecasts and performance variability.
Incorporate uncertainty analysis and loss factors to inform financial models and project bankability.
4. Wind Farm Layout & Technical Design
Develop wind farm layouts and electrical system designs, including AutoCAD-generated plans for turbines, substations, and transmission lines.
Prepare Basis of Design Reports covering all key project inputs such as wind regime, infrastructure requirements, equipment specifications, and grid integration.
Define a range of possible turbine specifications and associated design considerations.
5. Client Engagement & Project Coordination
Serve as the primary technical liaison for clients, delivering presentations, updates, and clear documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Lead discussions on design optimization, energy assessments, and site planning strategies.
Ensure all deliverables are completed with high quality, on time, and in alignment with client goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum of 10 years of experience in renewable energy, with a strong emphasis on wind energy projects.
Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality technical documentation, energy assessments, and cost evaluations.
Technical Skills
Deep expertise in wind energy technologies, turbine selection, and power system integration.
Proficient in wind modeling and assessment tools (e.g., WAsP, WindPro, OpenWind, WindFarmer).
Strong grasp of energy yield forecasting, CAPEX/OPEX analysis, and electrical system optimization.
Skilled in AutoCAD for layout and electrical design.
Familiarity with grid compliance, interconnection studies, and regulatory frameworks.
Soft Skills
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and stakeholder engagement.
Strong interpersonal and project management abilities, with a collaborative approach to team and client interactions.
Digital literacy and the ability to work efficiently with analytical tools and project management platforms.
Work Environment & Location
This position is based in Saudi Arabia, with opportunities to work from Tabuk or Riyadh. Occasional travel to wind farm sites and client offices across the region is required.
**Security clearance**
This role requires the successful candidate to hold a minimum of a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance.
Due to the nature of work this role will be delivering and for the protection of certain assets, the successful candidate has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non-ITAR country.
