Sr. Backup & Storage Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backup & Storage Engineer with deep expertise in Dell EMC backup and storage solutions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, administering, and supporting enterprise-scale backup and recovery infrastructures, while also serving as an L2/L3 escalation point for complex issues across multi-platform environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, manage, and optimize Dell EMC PowerProtect, Avamar, and Data Domain backup environments.
• Implement and support cyber recovery solutions to ensure business continuity and data resilience.
• Manage enterprise storage platforms including Dell EMC PowerMax and PowerScale (Isilon).
• Support and integrate backup solutions within VMware environments and multi-platform (Windows, Linux, UNIX) infrastructures.
• Provide L2/L3 technical support and act as the primary escalation point for backup, recovery, and storage-related incidents.
• Develop and maintain backup strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with industry best practices.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve performance, capacity, and availability issues in complex infrastructures.
• Collaborate with architecture and operations teams to design scalable backup and storage solutions.
• Perform system upgrades, patching, and ensure compliance with security standards.
• Document technical processes, troubleshooting steps, and solution architectures.

• 6+ years of experience specializing in Dell EMC backup solutions.
• Proven expertise in PowerProtect, Avamar, Data Domain administration and troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of cyber recovery solutions and data protection methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise storage platforms (PowerMax, PowerScale/Isilon).
• Solid understanding of VMware environments and multi-platform backup integrations.
• Demonstrated ability to provide L2/L3 technical support in enterprise environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with complex infrastructure issues.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

• Preferred Qualifications
• Dell EMC certifications (e.g., DECS-IE, DECS-SA, Dell EMC Data Protection Specialist).
• Experience with cloud backup and hybrid data protection strategies.
• Familiarity with automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
• Knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, and Change Management).
