Conduct all activities safely, in accordance with safety rules and policies, to prevent harm to self and others.
Company compliance with the requirements of environmental permits, licenses, and regulations, focusing on monitoring, record-keeping and reporting requirements.
Effectively communicate with site personnel regarding regulatory obligations. Complete permitting activities in a timely manner by soliciting and gathering necessary information from affected operational departments, and submitting complete applications, to minimize permitting delays and ensure that company operations and projects are not hindered.
Develop and maintain rapport with regulators and government agencies to foster a working relationship that minimizes adversarial actions, enforcement actions and penalties.
Coordinate and manage environmental projects, including contractor and consultant activities.
Conduct regular inspections, in accordance with the Environmental Department procedures, of company operations to ensure regulatory compliance.
Position Requirements and Job Description
Monitor proposed environmental regulatory changes and with an eye to their effect on operations and demands on resources (personnel, financial).
Inform the Manager, Environmental Department, immediately of any compliance or permitting issues that may affect the company.
Ensure that departmental and company goals are achieved by participating in short and long-range planning activities.
As a member of the department, provide environmental awareness training to site employees. Comply with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct.
Meet or exceed the performance expectations established by management.
Perform other functions as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
A bachelors degree in environmental engineering (preferred) or Civil Engineering.
Five years work experience in the environmental industry preferred.
Strong technical and analytical skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and management, regulators and governmental agencies.
Able to describe environmental regulatory requirements to a diverse workforce.
Able to work independently to manage workload and prioritize tasks.
Strong organizational and administrative skills.
Strong technical engineering knowledge.
Good understanding of low-carbon building solutions.
