Job Description

Purpose

The Financial Controller will provide financial leadership, business expertise, guidance, and support to the functional leader. The position executes a full range of controllership responsibilities including financial record keeping, reporting, profit planning, systems operations, and financial analysis for the Pharmacy. The position is expected to seek out cost opportunities and assist in managing the organization to achieve optimum financial performance. This position is part of AbbVie’s Operations Finance group and requires a creative individual with the ability to grasp and implement concepts with a minimum amount of supervision. This individual should possess strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills. This position will lead direct reports and indirect reports.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide sound financial analysis and cost estimates/scenario planning for functional decision-making.
  • Coordinate, consolidate, and manage the development and reporting of Actuals, Plan, Latest Best Estimate (LBE), and Long-Range Plan (LRP) including capital, expense, and headcount.
  • Lead Materials Management function ensuring adequate supply to meet demand with proper inventory controls. In addition, manage site Accounts Receivables including cash application, pricing, and collections process, contractual agreements with payers, and ensuring proper controls and aging metrics are managed.
  • Lead the annual labor standards-setting process developing sound activity and capacity standards to ensure proper resource planning to align with demand fully integrating into each plan cycle. In addition, this position is responsible for leading the annual material standard cost-setting process with Purchasing and Materials Managementand integrating into each planning cycle, including the development and tracking of Schedule F (BOH, DOH planning) and monthly inventory reporting (MIR) process.
  • Responsible for the monthly volume forecasting process, with heavy collaboration with Commercial forecasting, and integrating into the monthly financial LBE and each planning cycle.
  • Provide financial leadership to achieve strategic and day-to-day business objectives. Provide leadership, direction, guidance, and development to financial support staff. Providing financial support to Operations Management.
  • Lead strategic product launches and other implementations; and actively seek improvements. Communicate results and identify trends and opportunities.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis:
    - Analyze, evaluate, and recommend Capital Projects. Approve Requests for Capital Expenditures (RCEs) based on established policy.
    - Provide financial guidance related to Operating Budgets and Strategic Business Issues.
    - Present financial data that is clear and concise thereby enhancing the management decision making process.
    - Partner with Operations to develop budgets for Strategic Programs.
  • General Accounting
    Ensure adequate financial and system controls are established and maintained consistent with AbbVie Corporate Financial Manual (CFM) policies and procedures as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
    Ensure uniform and consistent recording and reporting of fiscal transactions.
    Maintain the integrity and control of general ledger accounts through review and analysis.
    Document internal control procedures and ensure compliance.
    Reporting/Control
    Ensure compliance with all Operations Finance deadlines.
    Ensure protection and proper use of company assets.
    Approve Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) expenditures per policy.
    Report operating results to the Management.
    Monitor completion of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
    Lead and coordinate successful completion of all financial audits (SOX, External, Internal, PBM audits)

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Saudi National Preferred.
  • B.S./B.A. Accounting/Finance.
  • 8 plus years of relevant finance experience. Experience leading A/R function and/or cost accounting experience preferred.
  • 3 plus years of supervisory experience.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and SAP.
  • CPA/MBA preferred.
  • Demonstrated success of functional HR roles/responsibilities and impact on the business.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, carries executive presence with business leaders.
  • Constantly works with an enterprise view, aligned to business strategy, while delivering outcomes and driving execution.
  • Asks thoughtful questions, influences without authority, and pushes back (appropriately) with senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated reasoning abilities and sound judgment, resourceful, well-organized, and results-oriented.
  • Strong communicator verbally and in writing; strong presentation skills; proficient in HRIS systems.
