Job Description - Lead Internal Auditor

Job description / Role

The internal Auditing department of our client presents a dynamic, unique and significantly career enhancing opportunity, with an open vacancy for Lead Operational Auditor. The role will offer an array of varying projects, departments and operational complexities, requiring market leading leadership and experience. - Lead on internal audit functions from project to project, incorporating the backing of an experienced team at each juncture, including planning, organizing, and conducting internal audits in accordance with the annual audit plan and regulatory requirements. - Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management processes, and governance practices. - Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including senior management, to communicate audit results and drive continuous improvement. - Identify and recommend improvements to internal controls, operational processes, and risk management practices to enhance the organization's overall control environment. - Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging trends, and regulatory changes to ensure the internal audit function remains aligned with leading standards and methodologies. - Provide leadership and mentorship to the internal audit team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and professional development.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; professional certification such as CPA, CIA, or CISA is highly preferred. - Proven experience in internal audit, risk management, or related roles, ideally within the Oil and Gas industry, with a strong understanding of industry-specific risks and challenges. - Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with a track record of effectively leading and managing audit teams and projects. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex issues, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization. - Sound knowledge of internal audit standards, practices, and methodologies, with a commitment to upholding the highest professional and ethical standards. - Adaptability and resilience, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
