Job Description - M&A Financial Analyst

  • The M&A Analyst is responsible for supporting the development and execution of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions by providing comprehensive valuation activities for large and complex international transactions. This role involves structuring, valuation, due diligence, and support for negotiations and documentation, along with offering objective and independent advice to senior management on transactions.
  • Provide expert and objective advice to senior management to support decision-making in respect of M&A valuations on specific transactions.
  • Support the development and execution of M&A transactions by conducting comprehensive financial analysis activities, including building and utilizing complex financial models, performing risk and uncertainty analysis, and producing financial statements.
  • Source and manage valuation inputs from multiple internal and external sources, advising on gaps, deficiencies, and risks.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor team members in areas of expertise.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and methodologies to become a center of excellence in valuation for the company.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis activities, including transfer pricing, impairment reviews, incentive programs, and group policy reviews.
  • Manage external financial advisors and consultants for valuation activities on transactions.
  • Develop relationships with banks to bring external perspectives on the M&A landscape to the company.
Job Purpose

Roles & Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in conducting financial analysis in M&A transactions, likely gained in leading investment banks, accounting firms, or large international corporations.
  • Significant experience in large and complex cross-border transactions in energy or natural resources sectors.
  • Expert level knowledge and use of financial analysis tools and methodologies, understanding of financial statements, and familiarity with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and international taxation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Management, or Engineering.
  • Advanced business degree (e.g., MBA) or Accounting qualification is preferred but not required.
