School-Centered Counseling Internship (Fall 2026)

1. The Educational and Mental Health Alliance (TEAM) Interns provide the following services, including, but not limited to:
   • Individual and/or group counseling
   • School and family education
   • Individual skill trainings
   • Advocacy
   • Information and referral
   • Transportation
   • Alcohol and drug education and prevention
   • Group work
   • Crisis intervention
   • Assessment
   • Other services necessary to the enrichment of the internship environment.
2. Formulate goal-oriented treatment plan with a step-oriented process to prevent recurrence of crisis and to stabilize the client.
3. Complete all required trainings and thoroughly maintain all necessary client records.
4. Maintain all required expectations as developed between the graduate program and the student’s field instructor. 
5. Provide client coverage during any school vacation period if needed for appropriate client care.
6. Submit and utilize a goal attainment scale or other approved system to allow for supervision and evaluation of the success of the treatment plan. 
7. Provide advocacy and liaison work with schools, the justice system, social services, health services, and other community agencies as needed.
8. Responsible for timely termination/evaluation of cases.
9. Adhere to Agency/ACS/ NASW codes of conduct and ethics. Adhere to Learning Contract as designed by Student and Field Instructor.

10. Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and on-going training.
11. All required trainings, certifications and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
12. Contribute to the development and maintenance of the clinical record through the timely completion of assigned documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
13. Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during the client’s treatment.  All client-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material.
14. Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.
15. Other duties as assigned by management.

1. Education: Minimum Master’s student in Social Work or Counseling required.
2. Licensure: SWT or CT required.
3. Skills/Competencies:
   • Strong clinical skills including training and/or classroom experience expertise in therapy, crisis intervention, education, behavioral interventions, and substance abuse therapy.
   • Ability to perform job responsibilities with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment.
   • Core Expertise: Possesses skill, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential duties of their role; keeps knowledge up to date.
   • Cultural Competency: Demonstrates awareness, sensitivity and skills in working professionally with diverse individuals, groups and communities who represent various cultural and personal background and characteristics.
   • Interpersonal Communication: Communicates clearly using verbal, nonverbal, and written skills in a professional context; demonstrates clear understanding and use of professional language.
   • Professional & Ethical Conduct: Adheres to professional values such as honesty, personal responsibility, and accountability; applies ethical concepts within scope of work and adheres to Agency policies and procedures.
   • Collaboration & Teamwork: Functions effectively as a member of a professional team that includes employees, clients and family members.
   • Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Recognizes problems and responds appropriately; gathers information
4. Experience:  Experience in working with children, adolescents and their families preferred.
5. Other: Must have and maintain a valid drivers license and driving record that meets the underwriting criteria of the Agency’s insurance company.
