Job Description - CFO

Overview:

The CFO will be responsible for managing the financial actions of the family office. This includes tracking cash flow and financial planning as well as analyzing the office’s financial strengths and weaknesses and proposing corrective actions.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the capital structure of the family office, determining the best mix of debt, equity, and internal financing.
  • Address all matters related to accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for the family office.
  • Ensure that the financial records of the family office are accurate and that tax filings are completed on time.
  • Manage financial risks, financial planning, record-keeping, and financial reporting.
  • Aid in the implementation and maintenance of an integrated financial management system for the family office.
  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the family office.
  • Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools, and control systems.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; manage preparation and support of all external audits.
  • Coordinate with the investment team and align the family office’s financial strategy with long-term investment plans.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a CFO, Financial Controller, or similar role, preferably in a high-net-worth family office environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
  • Extensive experience in financial management and accounting, ideally within a family office or for ultra high-net-worth individuals.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state financial regulations.
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.
  • Proficient in the use of financial management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks).
  • An analytical mind with a strategic ability.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years of accounting experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in a family office setting is highly desirable.
