Job Description - Head of Performance (Tennis)

Roles and Responsibilities

The Head of Performance is responsible for building a "World Class Player Development Pathway". The purpose of the Head of High Performance is to create a sustainable High Performance environment for tennis that enables repeat winning performance on the world stage. This role will require significant experience in player development and coach development and deliver the performance strategy for the Player Pathway; it includes:

  • Planning of the year long competitive tennis coaching program for the academy (10/u, 12/u, 14/u, 16/u) and all coloured ball (red, orange, green) classes. Provide stakeholders yearly, seasonal, weekly and daily lesson plans. This will include planning of local and overseas trips, and matchplay opportunities.
  • Assessment and feedback of all competitive players - including physical, mental, technical and tactical, on a consistent basis to players and parents throughout the year.
  • Ensuring that all coaches in the academy are working to the highest level, and following all coaching plans and guidelines.
  • Continued development, mentoring, monitoring of all competitive coaching team members through weekly team meetings, research, reviews, workshops and courses.
  • 40 hours or more of on-court coaching (if required) by the coaching team

Liasing with the:

  • Tennis Director / Head Coach : in the planning and smooth transition of tennis players from the junior development programs to competitive squads.
  • Tennis Director / Head Coach : to ensure all coaching on court remains at a high standard for all development and competitive coaching.
  • The coaching team to design and build the adult coaching programme to include ladies morning socials towards teams, cardio tennis development and tournaments.
  • Management team to identify new areas of growth within the tennis space.
  • Parents - sharing the vision, structure and schedule of the programs.


Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills
  • An appropriate approach to age-group training (LTAD)
  • Strong organizational skills, including a working knowledge of the ITF tournament pathway and program organization at a high performance level
  • Tennis Certifications - USPTA (Elite Pro), ITF (Level 2), RPT (Director) or equivalent with experience and a definite potential to inspire our players
  • A commitment to a holistic education beyond the tennis court
  • A team player - ability to develop relationships based on mutual respect

KPI's

  • A transparent and effective performance pathway is in place to support the development of athletes from junior to college tennis to the grand slams
  • Increased quality and number of performance coaches available to our student athletes
  • Creation and growth of new areas of tennis un-explored currently
  • Winning/improving local and international individual and team performances - Spex, ATF, ITF
