Job Description - Business Development Director - Part-Time

Summary:

The Business Development Director is a key position responsible for driving the growth and expansion of STECS. This role encompasses both strategic business development initiatives and hands-on bid management to secure new projects and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development:

  • Market Analysis: Conduct thorough research and analysis of market trends, competitor activities, and potential client needs to identify growth opportunities.
  • Lead Generation: Develop and implement effective lead generation strategies to cultivate a robust pipeline of potential projects.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, consultants, and industry associations.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Explore and establish strategic partnerships with other organizations to enhance the company's market position.
  • Networking: Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote the company's brand and capabilities.

Bid Management:

  • Bid Strategy: Develop comprehensive bid strategies, including win themes, pricing models, and risk mitigation plans.
  • Bid Coordination: Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate bid preparation.
  • Proposal Writing: Prepare compelling and persuasive proposals that highlight the company's strengths and value proposition.
  • Negotiation: Participate in negotiations with clients to secure favorable contract terms.
  • Post-Bid Analysis: Conduct thorough reviews of successful and unsuccessful bids to identify areas for improvement.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Marketing & Communications: Collaborate with marketing teams to develop effective marketing materials and campaigns.
  • Bid & Opportunities Reporting: Prepare regular reports on bid activities, pipeline status, and revenue forecasts.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of business development and bid management professionals.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of success in business development and bid management within the construction industry.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing complex bids and proposals.
  • Strong understanding of the construction industry and market trends.

Desirable Skills:

  • Proficiency in bid cost analysis and modelling.
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
