President, Baptist Theological Seminary (BTS)

Roles & Responsibilities

BTS is a theological seminary committed to the vision of cultivating missional pastors and equipping lay leaders to strategically engage the Asian harvest. We aim to serve Singapore and bless Asia.

The President is vested with the authority and responsibility for the executive leadership of the Seminary and reports directly to the Board of Management. It requires the President to be committed to advancing theological education and to providing strategic leadership that fulfils the vision. The primary responsibilities include:

1. Motivating and building a core team to meet operational and strategic objectives of the seminary.

2. Recruiting faculty with strategic skills to offer a unique curriculum that can develop missional pastors.

3. Establishing alliances and partnerships with like-minded reputable seminaries to offer unique and distinctive theological education by BTS and accreditation with ATESEA and ATA.

4. Representing BTS to network and build close rapport with churches and through participating in key events organised by the Singapore Baptist Convention and theological consortiums.

5. Preparing the annual operating budget and working with the Management Board on fund raising, and growing the pool of financial supporters to maintain healthy cash flow and adequate reserves.

6. Developing BTS into a reputable and missional seminary for local and foreign students contemplating theological training and development of kingdom perspective.

7. Overseeing leadership succession of key faculty staff.

Requirements

1. Doctor of Ministry (DMin) or Master of Theology (ThM) Degree with at least 10 years serving in pastoral/cross cultural missionary, and/or theological ministry, preferably in the Baptist denomination. A PhD degree in Theology/Biblical Studies/Missions would be an advantage.

2. Proven leadership experience in strategic planning, critical analysis, teamwork and decision-making. Senior corporate management experience would be an advantage.

3. Understand Baptist Distinctives and be able to align with Baptist polity and practices.

4. Has a good standing with the Christian community.

5. Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.

6. Ability to establish relationships while upholding the highest standards of integrity, confidentiality and professionalism.

7. Excellent communicating, writing and editing skills, with the ability to persuade orally and in writing.

8. Fluency in Chinese language would be an advantage.
