A well-established renewable energy provider with over a decade of experience in South Africa, is seeking a skilled Financial Manager to join their team in a contract position. Period of January 2026 - end May 2026 (2 week handover in December 2025).
The Financial Manager oversees financial management and provides support across all departments. Responsibilities include managing cash flow, preparing for the annual audit, generating precise financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Additionally, the Financial Manager plays a crucial role in budgeting, forecasting, cost management, tax planning, financial analysis, client billing reviews, procurement, supplier payments and offering financial input on solar proposals.
This role reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
Responsibilities:
Supervise the day-to-day financial operations of the business to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Establish and uphold financial best practices.
Monitor and optimise cost efficiencies.
Analyse monthly management accounts thoroughly, offering insights and recommendations for enhancement.
Conduct forecasting and budgeting exercises.
Efficiently manage cash flow.
Take charge of the month-end close process and examine balance sheet reconciliations to guarantee accuracy and compliance.
Resolve any discrepancies and implement essential adjustments as needed.
Oversee payments to both local and foreign suppliers, ensuring transactions are conducted promptly and cost-effectively.
Manage all tax-related affairs, encompassing PAYE, VAT, and Income Tax submissions.
Remain abreast of tax regulations, ensuring adherence.
Coordinate with tax authorities as required.
Ensure precise and punctual invoicing by reviewing monthly client billings.
Rectify billing inconsistencies and offer assistance to the finance department.
Foster positive client relationships.
Offer financial expertise and assistance for solar proposals, enhancing financial feasibility and appeal.
Work closely with the sales and engineering teams to collaborate effectively.
Oversee and manage preparation for the annual audit, ensuring relevant financial records and documentation are accurate and available in a timely manner.
Assist auditors during their examination and facilitate a seamless audit procedure.
Resolve any issues identified during the audit process.
Set up and execute governance processes and internal controls to protect company assets and ensure financial integrity.
Identify areas for process improvement and streamlining opportunities.
Requirements
• Chartered Accountant (SA)
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role
• Xero accounting software experience an advantage
• Good communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, efficient and diligent
