Head of TDT Projects

This position reports to the: Head of Outbound Logistics Operations

Purpose of the role:

• Developing and implementing continuous improvement projects across the TDT network to improve efficiency and reduce cost


• Key responsibilities:(What are you directly responsible to achieve within the scope of your role)


• Initiating and implementing continuous improvement projects across the TDT network to improve efficiency and reduce cost


• Project managing all strategic and operations critical project for the Takealot Delivery Team


• Active Stakeholder Management by ensuring clear communication channels are maintained between all  parties and ensuring that the TDT network can support the business plans of Takealot, Superbalist and MrD Food


• Working cross functionally with the Engineering and Distribution Centre operations team to optimise total delivery lead-time and logistics cost


• Benchmarking logistics networks, fleet and materialhandling equipment solutions with other role players both locally and globally to improve operations and reduce logistics costs


• Support logistics tenders with 3PL service providers and facilitating the introduction of new service providers within the network


• Responsible for medium to long term roadmap and subsequent impact assessment on the development roadmap, capex and operational planning


• Responsible for operationalizing all new business development initiatives within the TDT network


• Oversee the cross functional Compliance function in support of at all TDT business units


• Managing a team responsible for the coordination of TDT projects within the main TDT regions.

Minimum Required Qualification & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain or Project management related field


• Minimum 7 - 10 years in senior management role within Logistics / Supply Chain


• Proven track record of success in delivering projects against operational and profit targets


• Sound operational background within management of a network


• Experience of managing customers at a senior level


• Change management experience


• Logistics supply chain experience at a strategic level


• Quantitative analytical capability, with a strong grasp of management and cost accounting principles and metrics


• Good leadership and team development skills

• Ability to interpret complex operational environments
