About this role


 


The HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the health, safety, security, and environmental compliance of all activities at a renewable energy project construction site. This role involves implementing HSSE policies and procedures, conducting site inspections, and promoting a safe work environment. The HSSE Supervisor plays a critical role in safeguarding the well-being of all personnel and ensuring that the construction project adheres to all relevant HSSE standards and regulations.



Duties and responsibilities 


 


HSSE Policy Implementation




  • Implement HSSE policies, procedures, and guidelines specific to the construction site.

  • Ensure all site personnel are aware of and comply with HSSE policies and procedures.

  • Conduct regular training sessions and toolbox talks to promote HSSE awareness and best practices.



Site Inspections and Audits




  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with HSSE standards.

  • Monitor construction activities to ensure safe work practices are being followed.

  • Document inspection findings and follow up on corrective actions to address any non-compliances.



Incident and Accident Management




  • Investigate and report all incidents, accidents, and near misses on the construction site.

  • Identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Maintain accurate records of incidents and ensure timely reporting to relevant authorities.



Risk Assessment and Management




  • Conduct risk assessments to identify and evaluate potential HSSE risks associated with construction activities.

  • Develop and implement risk mitigation measures to minimize HSSE risks.

  • Regularly review and update risk assessments as necessary.


 


Emergency Preparedness and Response




  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures for the construction site.

  • Conduct regular emergency drills and training sessions to ensure site personnel are prepared to respond to emergencies.

  • Coordinate with local emergency services and authorities as needed.


 


Environmental Compliance




  • Ensure all construction activities comply with environmental regulations and standards.

  • Monitor and manage waste disposal, pollution control, and environmental impact mitigation measures.

  • Conduct environmental audits and inspections to ensure compliance with environmental management plans.



Security Management




  • Implement security measures to protect site personnel, equipment, and materials.

  • Coordinate with security personnel to ensure site security is maintained at all times.

  • Investigate and report any security breaches or incidents.



Stakeholder Communication




  • Maintain effective communication with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.

  • Provide regular updates on HSSE performance, challenges, and improvements.

  • Participate in project meetings to address HSSE-related concerns and coordinate solutions.


 


Required skills and education background. 




  • Bachelor’s degree, National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HSSE management, with at least 3 years in the renewable energy or construction industry.

  • Strong knowledge of HSSE regulations, standards, and best practices relevant to the construction industry.

  • Internal auditing (14001,45001)

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Proficiency in HSSE management software and tools.

  • Valid driver’s license and based on project site.
