Job Title: Project Engineer
Location: Witbank
Job Type: 9 month contract, expected to work Full-Time hours (Onsite)
Key responsibilities
· Engineering and construction contracts management including budget and schedule.
· Ensure that competent engineers with the required qualifications are appointed on the project by consultants.
· Obtain sign-off on engineering deliverables from all required internal Client stakeholders which include the Discipline Engineers and the Operations Team (Mine General Manager and Heads of Department). Sign-off to be obtained in-line with the agreed schedule (as per contractual obligations with contractors) and budget.
· Management of external stakeholder approvals and performance on projects e.g. Eskom, Transnet and SANRAL.
· Change management on engineering and construction contracts.
· Change management on project capital budget and schedule as a result of engineering related changes.
· Engineering discipline interface management and engineering deliverable quality checking to ensure that there are no interface issues/errors in the project implementation phase.
· Construction contract technical adjudications.
· Review contractor proposals and project capital estimates and schedules and provide optimisation opportunities.
· Ensure that technical queries are timeously responded to and closed out without delays to the project.
· Ensure that QCP’s, issued during the implementation phase are signed off by the relevant discipline engineer and engineering consultant engineer.
· During implementation phase, arrange “off-site” fabrication inspections and Factory Acceptance Testing with the relevant discipline engineer, engineering consultant engineer and clerks of works.
· Ensure “on-site” inspections during project implementation are timeously attended by the relevant discipline engineer and engineering consultant engineer.
· Maintain safe working environment – conduct site inspections and check compliance to safety procedures, rules and regulations.
· Provide inputs into the commissioning management plan and provide oversight on commissioning activities ensuring that all activities are implemented safely without asset damage and project cost and schedule impacts.
· Operational readiness, liaising with the operations team and hand-over from the project team to the operations team.
· Performance testing of infrastructure post commissioning.
· Provide the design and engineering, quality, operational performance and lessons learnt inputs as part of the project close-out process.
· Contribute to team Key Performance Indicators by achieving targets as the project progresses.
Requirements
· Diploma / Degree in Engineering or related field.
· Professional Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) is advantageous.
· Project Management Professional (PMP®) is advantageous.
· GCC Mines and Works is advantageous.
· Valid Driver’s Licence.
· Good working knowledge of relevant legislation relating to the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), Occupational Health and Safety Act and or any other regulatory acts which may influence engineering/procurement/construction environment.
Minimum 10 years of experience in the following:
· Engineering/Procurement/Construction/Project Management environment.
· Contractor Management
· Mining, Bulk Material Handlings and Processing coal operations environment.
· Commissioning experience.
· Construction quality experience.
· Technical query resolution experience.
· Technical experience during plant shut works would be advantageous.
