Job Description - Accounts Payable Clerk

Accounts Payable Clerk

What is the job:

The successful Account Payable clerk will be an experienced clerk with an understanding of accounts payable that will take responsibility for the accurate processing and reconciliation of all documents for payment of suppliers. This will include accurate capturing of data on Sage Evolution and any other supporting software, preparing supplier reconciliations for review and payment, ensuring that reports are updated as stipulated and attending to general administrative duties. Particular attention must be given to accuracy, attention to detail, reliability, speed of service and service excellence.

What will be expected of you?

  • Accurate capturing of data.
  • Processing data.
  • Ensure that all relevant documentation is submitted correctly.
  • Daily update of information.
  • Handling all supplier queries and internal queries.
  • Ensure that the following reports required for your section are completed on dedicated deadlines communicated monthly.
  • Capturing and processing all invoices (documents).
  • Make sure all invoices are appropriately signed off/approved.
  • Follow up on pro-forma invoices for tax invoices after payment was made.
  • Ensuring that all payments that are paid comply with the set standards and contain all the necessary required information.
  • Ensure that claims are paid timeously and correctly.
  • Maintain the accounts payable systems to ensure complete and accurate records and “save” all documentation.
  • Reconciliation to statement for every pay period and allocations of payments as per FNB payment schedule.

Are you qualified?

  • Matric and higher certificate related to finance

Did you do this before?

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent computer literacy. Intermediate-level Excel skills. 
  • Sage Evolution knowledge will be advantageous

  • Planning, organising and collaborating skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Self-managed and/or able to function independently, reliable
