Job Description - Finance Manager

Kagiso Media is the largest black-owned media corporation in South Africa. Its primary assets include: Knowledge Factory East Coast Radio Jacaranda FM JUTA publishing Description Key Responsibilities Financial Business Support: Manage accounting functions including maintenance of general ledger, accounts payable ledger, accounts receivable ledger, and cash books, ensuring accurate and timeous accounting. Manage monthly closing of financial records. Preparation and review of monthly management accounts and business review presentations, including detailed commentary on significant variances to budget and prior year, and operational highlights. Preparation and review of quarterly reports to the board of directors. Preparation and review of quarterly financial forecasts and annual budgets. Preparation & review of Annual and Interim Financial Reporting as well as the Annual Financial Statements in accordance ith International Financial Reporting Standards. Manage procurement policy compliance and the entire procure-to-pay process. Manage treasury function including payments and collections, ensuring maximum cash return, as well as maintaining banking relationships. Manage inter-company transactions and balances, and the reporting thereof. Manage fixed asset register and capital expenditure, monitoring spending for adherence to approved budget. Review and update of payroll file and supporting documentation for monthly submission to Payroll. Management of trade exchange contracts and the accounting thereof. Management of corporate credit cards, petty cash and company fleet. Management of finance policies, and the internal control environment including internal financial control processes. Manage external and internal audit processes as well as other agreed upon procedures, within budget. Advocate for sound corporate governance in accordance to best practices. Implementation and monitoring of financial policies and internal controls. Providing input into the organization's strategy setting, implementation and monitoring. Scoping and analysis of key strategic projects. Business support in daily operations and projects, addressing financial aspects to meet business needs. Management of key suppliers/contracts to ensure delivery of rights and obligations. Risk management, Adherence to BBBEE and other regulatory/compliance: Update of payroll file and supporting documentation inputs for monthly submission. Manage the identification, assessment, and management of risk across the organization, keeping a regularly updated strategic risk register. Manage BBBEE and financial compliance procedures. Manage and coordinate Procurement, Supplier & Enterprise Development & SED components of the BBBEE scorecard. Manage compliance requirements with ICASA around license conditions and relevant reporting requirements. Ensure reporting compliance and timeous payment of levies to SAMRO and SAMPRA Manage compliance with the Tax legislation, including preparation and filing of VAT, PAYE, Income Tax and Dividend tax requirements. Ensure that all regulatory and legislative matters are attended to. Leadership: Lead finance team. Encourage a healthy work culture and positive work ethic in the department. Manage and measure the performance of team members, providing regular feedback. Manage the development of individuals as well as succession planning of the various roles within the team. Delegate projects to team members to ensure the best possible spread of workload, with a sufficient amount of empowerment and coaching. Provide support, and encouragement and administer disciplinary action when necessary. General: Interface with management in various departments in setting, implementing, and measuring organizational strategy. Member of Management Committee ('Manco'), including attendance of weekly Manco meetings. Assists with Ad Hoc projects where required. Execute any other tasks that may reasonably be expected. Effectively manage all relevant stakeholders. Requirements Qualifications and Competencies: CA or equivalent qualification Skills & Experience: Strong technical accounting background with at least 3 years in similar Senior Financial Management roles Computer literate and excellent writing and communication. Attributes: Goal and task prioritization. Positive outlook, can-do attitude. Strong track record as a 'team player and lead'. Passion for radio.
