Job Description - Head of Operations

Position: Head of Operations Resorts and Lodges.

Location: East Africa, Mombasa  a coastal city in southeastern Kenya along the Indian Ocean.

Job Description:As the Head of Operations, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing our client's portfolio of resorts and exclusive lodges. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the seamless operation of all properties, maintaining the highest standards of service excellence and guest satisfaction. Reporting directly to the executive team, you will be entrusted with the following duties:

  • Operational Oversight: Provide strategic leadership and direction to ensure efficient day-to-day operations across all properties, including front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, and maintenance departments.

  • Financial Management: Develop and manage annual operating budgets, monitor financial performance, and implement cost-control measures to optimize profitability while upholding quality standards.

  • Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and mentor a diverse team of hospitality professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Guest Experience: Champion a guest-centric approach, ensuring that every guest enjoys a memorable and personalized experience reflective of East Africa’s renowned hospitality.

  • Quality Assurance: Implement and enforce standard operating procedures and quality assurance protocols to uphold brand standards and exceed guest expectations.

  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the executive team to develop and execute long-term strategic initiatives aimed at driving revenue growth, enhancing operational efficiency, and expanding market presence.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of success in a similar role within the hospitality industry, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Africa.
  • Strong leadership abilities with demonstrated experience in effectively managing and motivating teams.
  • Exceptional financial acumen and proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels.
  • In-depth knowledge of hospitality operations, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Passion for hospitality, a commitment to excellence, and a genuine appreciation for East Africa’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
  • Willingness to travel.
